África como destino, a incerteza no horizonte. Testemunhos dos combatentes paredenses na guerra colonial

Abstract

No segundo ano curricular do Mestrado em Política Cultural Autárquica, optou-se pela realização do Estágio curricular. Esta experiência decorreu na Biblioteca Municipal de Paredes entre os meses de janeiro e março de 2020.O Relatório encontra-se estruturado em três partes. A Parte I, intitulada Resenha histórica de Paredes: entidade territorial e cultural, concentra-se sobre a história do Concelho de Paredes, as suas origens e o seu desenvolvimento, bem como a caracterização da Unidade Património Cultural, Biblioteca e Arquivo da Câmara Municipal de Paredes, com particular ênfase na Biblioteca Municipal por ter sido a entidade acolhedora. A Parte II, denominada A Exposição do Estágio Curricular, é dedicada ao conjunto de atividades acompanhadas e desenvolvidas durante o Estágio, sendo ainda trabalhados o enquadramento histórico da Guerra Colonial, sublinhando o Estatuto do Antigo Combatente, o conceito de memória e a temática da História Oral na perpetuação da História Local. Este espaço foi igualmente reservado para o ponto fulcral da parte prática do Estágio Curricular: a Exposição na Biblioteca Municipal de Paredes a respeito da presença dos combatentes paredenses na Guerra Colonial, assim como nas atividades que participei na instituição cultural de Paredes. Em jeito de conclusão, é realizado um balanço acerca da experiência adquirida no Estágio tendo como base o conhecimento teórico adquirido no primeiro ano de Mestrado em Política Cultural Autárquica.No início dos anos 60, os panoramas políticos de África e de Portugal alteraram-se. Em Portugal, a Guerra Colonial culminou na transição entre a ditadura e a democracia; em África na independência das colónias – uma transformação geopolítica tardia, mas que acompanhou as mudanças globais do século XX.

In the second curricular year of the Master´s degree in Municipal Cultural Policy, we have chosen the Curricular Internship. This experience took place at the Municipal Library of Paredes between the months of January and March 2020.The Report is structured in three parts. The first part, entitled Historical review of Paredes: territorial and cultural entity focuses on the history of the Municipality of Paredes, its origins and development, as well as the characterization of the Cultural Heritage Unit, the Library and the Archive of the Municipality of Paredes, with particular emphasis on the Municipal Library as it was the welcoming entity. The second part, called The Curricular Internship Exposition, is dedicated to the set of activities monitored and developed during the Curricular Internship. Besides, the following are also approached: the historical framework of the Colonial War, underlining the Status of the Former Combatants, the concept of memory and the theme of History Oral in the perpetuation of Local History. This section was also reserved for the essential topic of the practical part of the Curricular Internship: the Exposition at Paredes Municipal Library about the presence of Paredenses combatants in the Colonial War, as well as to the activities that I took part in the cultural institution of Paredes. As a conclusion, a balance is made about the experience acquired in the Curricular Internship based on the theoretical knowledge acquired in the first year of the Master´s degree in Municipal Cultural Policy.In the early 1960s, the political scenes of Africa and Portugal changed. In Portugal, the Colonial War culminated in the transition between dictatorship and democracy; in Africa in the independence of the colonies – a late geopolitical transformation, but one that accompanied the global changes of the 20th century.
