Timber-concrete composite slabs arose with the aim of rehabilitating old timber floors and consequently improving its global performance. This option has several advantages when compared with the integral replacement of the floor, not only in terms of mechanical, acoustic and thermal behavior, but also in the esthetic and economic level.Timber-concrete composite slabs applies not only to rehabilitation, they show to be advantageous also in new or pre-fabricated structural solutions. As a reinforcement and rehabilitation technic it is generally applied in situations where there is a need to increase the load capacity or to reduce deformations and/or vibrations of the floor. On the other hand, in new structures it appears as an alternative to the reinforced concrete ones, since the composite solution besides being more sustainable and economic has a greater strength/weight ratio. Thus, the increasing application of timber-concrete composite slabs led to broaden the knowledge on its mechanic behavior, in order to optimize its performance and technical design.According to this need, the present dissertation aims at studying timber-concrete composite slabs subjected to concentrated loads, more specifically, in the assessment of the effects that some cross-sectional geometrical parameters have on the mechanical behavior of these slabs. This study is based on numeric modeling developed using a finite element model created with a commercial software and validated in a previous investigation titled “Load Distribution on Timber-Concrete Floors”. Therefore, several case studies were established, varying some geometric parameters of the cross section, such as: the height and shape of the cross section of the beams, and the thickness of the slab and of the interlayer. The transverse distribution of load in the slab was evaluated when it was subjected to a point load at mid-span of each beam, at a time. For this purpose, quantities as the support reactions, the longitudinal bending moments at mid-span and the vertical displacements at mid-span were evaluated.
