Dores da Descolonização no Portugal pós-colonial

Abstract

Este artigo parte da história do Rui, filho de um antigo combatente africano que, depois de ter combatido no seio das Forças Armadas Portuguesas durante a guerra de independência da Guiné-Bissau, foi detido e desapareceu. Comparando os significados que o Rui atribui ao desaparecimento do seu pai com outras narrativas veiculadas na esfera pública sobre a guerra colonial, esta análise revela que há dores atribuídas à descolonização que decorrem não apenas das perdas que o fim da guerra provocou, como também da forma como essas perdas têm sido interpretadas e geridas no Portugal pós-colonial.

This article starts from the story of Rui, the son of a former African combatant who, after having fought within the Portuguese Armed Forces during the Guinea-Bissau War of Independence, was arrested and disappeared. Comparing the meanings that Rui attributes to his father's disappearance with other narratives transmitted in the public sphere about the colonial war, this analysis reveals that there are pains attributed to decolonization that result not only from the losses that the end of the war caused, but also from the way these losses have been interpreted and managed in post-colonial Portugal.
