Para além da Utopia, Um projeto para a casa dos estudantes hoje - a reabilitação das Instalações Académicas de Coimbra

Abstract

A Academia de Coimbra tem ao longo do tempo mostrado uma vivência particular,assim como uma vida associativa que marca desde o início a vida dos estudantes e da cidade, as nstalações Académicas de Coimbra dão lugar a essas vivências. Contudo é de notar algum distanciamento dos estudantes em relação ao edifício. Este tem sofrido alterações pontuais não consensuais, gerando algum desagrado por parte das estruturas internas, assim como da comunidade académica em geral. Este tema surge da necessidade de repensar um espaço nevrálgico da cidade de Coimbra, com um potencial material e imaterial. As Instalações Académicas, apesar de devidamente classificadas enquanto Património, carecem de uma intervenção que dignifique o conjunto enquanto objeto arquitectónico e espaço maior da comunidade estudantil. Ao longo de meio século foi perdendo alguns traços distintivos e foi-se acrescentando ruído à composição moderna. Através de um estudo histórico e de contextualização sobre o que hoje são umas instalações académicas, associado a um estudo participado do caso de Coimbra pretendese descobrir um caminho para suprir as necessidades atuais e devolver o edifício aos estudantes.

The Coimbra Academy has, over time, shown a particular experience, as well as an associative life that has impacted the lives of both students and the city since the beginning. The Coimbra Students Center gives place to these experiences, however, it is noteworthy that students are distant from the building. This has undergone occasional non-consensual changes, generating some displeasure on the part of the internal structures, as well as the academic community in general. This theme arises from the need to rethink a crutial space in the city of Coimbra, with material and immaterial potential. The Coimbra Students Center, although properly classified as Heritage, needs an intervention that dignifies the whole building as an architectural object and a space for the student community. Over half a century, some of the distinctive features have been lost and noise has been added to the modern composition. Through a historical study and contextualization of how student centers work today, associated with a participatory study of the case of Coimbra, it is intended to find a way to meet current needs and return the building to students.
