Diluindo Fronteiras: Mal, Amor, Morte, Corpo e Mente em Clarice Lispector

Abstract

Clarice Lispector é uma das figuras mais representativas da literatura brasileira. Sua obra significa a renovação da narrativa da literatura no âmbito da América Latina. Como afirma Earl.E.Fitz, ela antecede Garcia Marques, Vargas Llosa e Julio Cortázar. As obras de Clarice inauguram um cânone da procura feminista, urbana e filosófica, tanto da literatura brasileira, como da literatura americana em geral. Além disso, a obra clariceana serviu de base a novas teorias sobre o feminismo. O presente estudo pretende mostrar que Clarice dissolve fronteiras entre mal e bem, ódio e amor, vida e morte, corpo e mente, assim como ressaltar que, desse apagamento de fronteiras, podem surgir o autorreconhecimento e a expressão própria. Como corpus, foram escolhidos Perto do Coração Selvagem, Uma Aprendizagem ou O Livro dos Prazeres, A Hora da Estrela e alguns textos de Felicidade Clandestina e de Laços de Família, recorrendo, quando necessário, a outros escritos de Clarice. A escolha desses textos teve por base o facto de serem mais representativos daquilo que era desejo mostrar. Em função de o autorreconhecimento e a autoexpressão serem tópicos da maior importância em Clarice Lispector, utilizou-se como bibliografia textos que abordam o Bildungsroman e o Bildungsroman em Clarice, além de textos sobre o feminino, o feminismo, o corpo. Porque foi necessário abordar as teorias sobre o Eu e o Outro, transgressão, consumo, o ser e a existência, consultaram-se obras de psicanalistas e filósofos.

Clarice Lispector is one of the most representative figures in the history of Brazilian literature. Her works signify a renewal of fictional narrative tradition in Latin America. As claimed by Earl.E.Fitz, Clarice’s innovative writing has preceded Garcia Marques, Vargas Llosa and Julio Cortázar. And her works have now been considered a canon of feminist, urban, and philosophical pursuits, both in the realm of Brazilian literature and that of American literature in general. Additionally, these works are often considered a foundation on which new feminist theories are based. This dissertation aims to show how Clarice has dissolved the borders between good and evil, love and hatred, life and death, body and mind, as well as to emphasize, how selfrecognition and self-expression can arise from this erasure of borders. The works analyzed in this dissertation mainly include Near to the Wild Heart, An Apprenticeship or The Book of Pleasures, The Hour of the Star and some passages from Clandestine Happiness and Family Ties. Other writings by Clarice are occasionally resorted to when necessary. The selection of these texts is based on their representativeness of what I intend to explore. Since self-recognition and self-expression are themes of vital importance in Clarice Lispector, some materials relating to the tradition of Bildungsroman and the Bildungsroman in Clarice, as well as some theses on femininity, feminism and the body, are reviewed. Works of psychoanalysis and philosophy are also referred to, for the necessity of discussing the topics of the Self and the Other, transgression, consumption, and being and existence.
