À procura de uma Arquitetura Humanista: O caso de estudo da Unidade de Habitação Horizontal

Abstract

Numa altura de grande agitação política e social, correspondente ao segundo pós-guerra, a partir da emergente necessidade de reconstrução do país, surge em Itália um plano de habitação, denominado INA-Casa. Este plano, que regulamenta a construção de bairros sociais, enforma características humanistas e respeitadoras das necessidades reais da população, não só na forma de organizar o espaço individual, como na relação que deve ser estabelecida com o espaço comunitário e até com a forma de pensar cidade. O caso de estudo da presente dissertação é a Unidade de Habitação Horizontal, Tuscolano III, do arquiteto Adalberto Libera. A partir dela, vamos tentar perceber o percurso do arquiteto pela procura de uma arquitetura que interpreta a organização dos espaços, inserida numa filosofia de bem-estar. Através da análise da importância do pátio e de espaços de convívio procuramos entender de que forma este complexo responde à busca do arquiteto por uma arquitetura humanista. Procuramos ainda elucidar-nos sobre a atualidade do projeto, observando como perdurou no tempo e como é vivido e encarado pelos seus moradores atuais. Pelo caminho, contactamos com correntes arquitetónicas que contribuíram para o exercício contínuo do repensar dos objetivos da arquitetura, enquadrada numa perspetiva integradora de todas as áreas criativas do ser humano que têm como dever contribuir para a felicidade do próximo. No fundo, percebemos que a arquitetura pode estar inserida neste grupo, apesar das dificuldades.

At a time of great political and social unrest, the second post-war period, stemming from the emerging need for the reconstruction of the country, a housing plan appears in Italy, called INA-Casa. This plan, which regulates the construction of social neighbourhoods, shapes humanistic characteristics that respect the real needs of the population, not only in the way of organizing the individual space, but also in the relationship that must be established with the community space and even with the way of thinking City.The case study of this dissertation is the Horizontal Housing Unit, Tuscolano III, by architect Adalberto Libera. Based on it, we will try to understand the architect's career path through the search for an architecture that interprets the organization of spaces, within a philosophy of well-being. Through the analysis of the importance of the patio and social spaces we try to understand how this complex responds to the architect's search for humanist architecture. We have also tried to clarify the topicality of the project, observing how it has lasted in time and how it is lived and faced by its current residents.Along the way, we have come into contact with architectural trends that have contributed to the continuous exercise of rethinking the objectives of architecture, framed in an integrating perspective of all the creative areas of the human being that have a duty to contribute to people’s happiness. Basically, we realised that architecture can be inserted in this group, despite the difficulties.
