Introduction: The aim of this study is to determine the bond strenght of 4 bioceramic cements (ProRoot® MTA, Biodentine™, TotalFill BC RRM™ putty™ and PulpGuard®) to root dentin, with and without blood contamination, assessed through push-out tests. Material and Methods: A total of 120 human monoradicular teeth were collected, sectioned with a standardized root length of 15 mm and the canals were prepared until the Gates Glidden bur number four. The samples were divided into 4 groups, according to the material used (ProRoot® MTA, Biodentine™, TotalFill BC RRM™ putty and PulpGuard®). Then, each one was further divided into 2 subgroups (n=15), according to the absence or presence of blood contamination. The root canals were totally filled with the respective material of each group and posteriorly stored in an incubator, at 37ºC and 100% relative humidity. After 1 week, the roots were cut in 3 segments with 3 mm of thickness. The adhesion area was calculated for each sample, from the photographic records, using ImageJ software to measure two radius values of filling material from the two sides of the sample. The push-out test (MPa) was performed with a universal test machine and the maximum load value applied before material displacement was registered. Moreover, the failure type was classified. The statistical analysis was performed with a significance level of 0.05. Results: The tested cements showed statistically significant differences regarding the push-out adhesive force. TotalFill BC putty showed the highest values of displacement resistance (10.31 ± 8.41 MPa) and Pulp Guard the lowest (1.13 ± 0.68 MPa). It was also observed that Biodentine (8.54 ± 4.49 MPa) and ProRoot MTA (7.44 ± 4.07 MPa) bond strength values were significantly lower than TotalFill BC putty. The presence of a blood contaminated environment did not significantly alter the force values in any material, except for PulpGuard (p = 0.0002). Regarding the different sections, there are no differences in the resistance to displacement (p> 0.05). The failure pattern was mostly adhesive. Conclusion: Within the tested biomaterials, TotalFill BC putty showed the highest bond strength to the dentin. The blood contaminated environment had no influence on the materials performance except for PulpGuard.
