Villa Romana de Pisões - Proposta de Valorização

Abstract

O Património Arqueológico da região de Beja encontra-se subvalorizado e ameaçado. A principal razão prende-se com a alteração da forma de produção agrícola da região. O Perímetro de Rega do Alqueva permitiu que muitas das tradicionais áreas agrícolas de sequeiro do Alentejo pudessem passar a ser regadas, o que provocou a alteração radical da paisagem, que se passou a caracterizar por extensos amendoais e olivais intensivos. Esta recente alteração tem igualmente um forte impacto ambiental, com redução de biodiversidade e degradação da qualidade de vida das populações. Outra consequência indireta foi a danificação de boa parte dos achados arqueológicos pelas máquinas agrícolas, dadas as movimentações de terra para obter superfícies niveladas, para colocação das infraestruturas de rega intensiva e a mecanização das colheitas. Urge intervir no sentido de travar a destruição do património arqueológico, criar áreas de proteção da biodiversidade com possibilidade de usufruto das populações e como foco de atração turística.A presente dissertação visa estudar o papel da Arquitetura na valorização, preservação e utilização do património arqueológico. Para o efeito propõe-se uma intervenção no conjunto das ruínas da Villa Romana de Pisões, nos arredores de Beja. Pretende-se, igualmente, que essa intervenção não tenha um impacto visual significativo de forma a sobrepor-se ao monumento, assim como que obedeça aos princípios da Arquitetura Sustentável, com baixo input energético e materiais de reduzida repercussão ambiental. Com esse desígnio, com base nos Estudos de Caso, na análise interpretativa do local e do contexto histórico, a proposta consiste na construção de um Centro Interpretativo, uma cobertura de proteção à Villa de Pisões e a requalificação da Barragem Romana, propondo um Parque Verde. Esta Estratégia Geral pretende que este monumento passe a ter um papel ativo no desenvolvimento da região, pelo aumento atividade turística.

Archaeological Patrimony of Beja is undervalued and in degradation. One of the main problems is the environmental changings due to the agricultural intensification which has been modifying and depriving this region with a huge environmental impact on biodiversity and in the life quality as well. This recent changing in the agriculture way of production has been destroying archaeological findings with the agricultural machinery which is used in the intensive cultivation of almond and olive trees. Therefore, is urgent to intervene either in stopping the archaeological patrimony destruction and in the creation of biodiversity protected areas which could be used by the population and as a touristic attraction as well.The present dissertation aims to study the Architecture role on the preservation, valorisation and reutilization of the cultural and historical heritage. This thesis suggests an intervention on the remainders of the Roman Villa of Pisões, located on the outskirts of Beja. Moreover, is intended that this intervention has no significant visual impact over the monument itself, and complying with the sustainable Architecture principles, with a low energetic input and using materials of a small environmental repercussion.With this intention, and based in Case Studies and an interpretative analysis of the place and its historical context, the proposal embraces a project for the construction of an Interpretative Centre, a protection enclosure of this Villa and the requalification of the Roman Dam creating a Green Park. This Global Strategy aims that this monument will now have an active role in the region development and raise its touristic activity.
