" Se ele estivesse de cor-de-rosa virava uma menina". A construção do género em contexto pré-escolar

Abstract

Esta dissertação discute a construção do género em contexto pré-escolar, olhando,especificamente, para a reprodução de estereótipos acerca do masculino e do feminino. Otrabalho de investigação visou observar a forma como as crianças constroem o género noseu quotidiano em contexto pré-escolar e a influência das educadoras de infância nesseprocesso. Para tal, adotou-se uma metodologia qualitativa, com recurso à observação participante e a entrevistas. O estudo efetuou-se numa Instituição Particular de SolidariedadeSocial, mais especificamente numa sala da pré-escola, frequentada por 20 crianças, das quais12 eram meninos e oito eram meninas, numa faixa etária compreendida entre os três e os seis anos de idade.Foram analisadas as interações das crianças com os seus pares e da educadora com o grupo,visando identificar a existência da segmentação de brinquedos, atividades, cores eprofissões, de acordo com o género e a presença de estereótipos de género no discurso daeducadora de infância. Foram, também, entrevistadas profissionais da instituição, incluindoa responsável pelo grupo observado, com o objetivo de percecionar as ideias destas relativamente ao ato de brincar, bem como compreender se a educação para a igualdade degénero integra o conjunto de objetivos e aprendizagens estabelecido como metas pedagógicas.Os resultados mostram, por um lado, a reprodução de estereótipos tradicionais de género nasinterações e discursos das crianças e o modo como esta é reforçada pelo trabalho da instituição, e, por outro lado, como a igualdade de género está afastada do projeto pedagógico implementado.

This dissertation discusses the construction of gender in the pre-school context, specificallylooking for the reproduction of stereotypes about the masculine and feminine. The researchwork aimed to observe how children construct their gender in daily lives in the pre-schoolcontext and what is the influence of the childhood educators in this process. For this research was adopted a qualitative methodology using participant observation and interviews. The study was carried out in a Private Institution of Social Solidarity, more specifically in a preschool room, frequented by 20 children, wich of twelve were boys and eight were girls, inage between three and six years old.There were analyzed the interactions of the children with their pairs and the educator withthe group aiming to identify the existence of the segmentation of toys, activities, colors andprofessions according to gender and presence of gender stereotypes in the discourse of thechildhood educator. Institutional professionals were also interviewed including the personresponsible for the observed group, the point was to see their ideas about playing, as well asunderstanding if education for gender equality integrates of the points and learnings establish as go pedagogic goals. The results show on the one hand, the reproduction of traditional gender stereotypes in interactions and discourses of children and how this is reinforced by the work of the institution, and on the other hand, how gender equality is far from the pedagogical project implemented.
