Due to the high complexity and occurance of fractures in the femoral diaphysis, there has been a development for various methods consisting of treatment with fixators, in an attempt to reduce post-operation time, and the time for the patient's full recovery. Of all the mechanical devices used in the recovery of bone diseases, osteossynthesis plates as a method of internal fixation will be highlighted on this dissertation. In an attempt to compare numerical studies and the influence that the used software has on the final results, the simulations made by Alves [1] have been repeated. The numerical studies made by the author have been executed in a CAD software (Solidworks®), while the ones presented on this dissertation will be executed in a finite element software (ADINA®).Therefore, in this document, the results of both analysis will be displayed: one static (linear) and the other near-static (non-linear). The first simulations for the repetition of Alves' work, on ADINA®, the influence of the plate's distance to the cortical surface of the femur, and the influence of the number of knots by element are framed in the first analysis. The main focus of this dissertation rests on the near-static analysis, which consists of the comparison between two models: the effect of bolt compression and the influence of the use of one or two plates. In the analysis that has been made, the parameters studied were the maximum values, the respective location and/or timed evolution of the stress, displacement, bolt behaviour with the thightening with compression, forces applied and the pressures of contact. With the finite element analysis, it has been possible to observe the most requested zone, in a way that allows one to predict the structural element ruin.
