O autoconceito e a satisfação com o suporte social em crianças institucionalizadas

Abstract

Este relatório descreve as atividades desenvolvidas ao longo do estágio curricular do Mestrado em Ciências da Educação da Faculdade de Psicologia e de Ciências da Educação da Universidade de Coimbra, que teve lugar na Casa do Pai, Casa de Acolhimento Residencial, pertencente à Fundação Bissaya Barreto, que decorreu de outubro de 2017 a junho de 2018, onde desenvolvemos um projeto de intervenção e de investigação junto das crianças acolhidas nesta instituição. No âmbito do projeto de intervenção, as principais atividades desenvolvidas foram ao encontro dos objetivos e necessidades identificadas dentro da Instituição e envolveram os métodos de estudo, a mediação escola-casa, a promoção da não-violência e o desenvolvimento emocional.No âmbito do projeto de investigação, procedeu-se ao estudo do autoconceito e satisfação com o suporte social junto das crianças institucionalizadas, variáveis consideradas relevantes neste contexto. Participaram no estudo 9 crianças que se encontram institucionalizadas, 4 do sexo masculino e 5 do sexo feminino, com idades compreendidas entre os 8 e os 15 anos de idade, sendo a média de idades de 11 anos e a média do tempo de institucionalização de 32 meses.Os dados obtidos através da aplicação da Escala de Autoconceito (adap. portuguesa) da Piers-Harris Children’s Self-Concept Scale” (PHCSCS-2) de Veiga (2006) e da Escala Satisfação com o Suporte Social (ESSS), adaptada por Ribeiro (1999), revelam que o autoconceito se encontra abaixo da média e é na relação com a família que o suporte social apresenta os valores mais baixos, corroborando outros estudos.

This report describes the activities developed during the curricular stage of the Master's Degree in Educational Sciences of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Coimbra, which took place in Casa do Pai, Foster Care Center, an institution belonging to the Bissaya Barreto Foundation, which was from October 2017 to June 2018, where we developed an intervention and research project together with the children in this institution. The main activities developed within the intervention project were related to the identified goals and needs within the institution and they involved study methods, school-house mediation, promotions of non-violence and emotional development. In the research project, the self-concept and the satisfaction with the social support with the institutionalized children variables were studied, since they were considered relevant in this context. The study included 9 children who were institutionalized: 4 male and 5 female, with ages ranging from 8 to 15 years of age, with a mean age of 11 years. The average institutionalization time is 32 months.The data obtained through the application of the Self-Concept Scale (portuguese adaptation) of the Piers-Harris Children's Self-Concept Scale (PHCSCS-2) of Veiga (2006) and the Social Support Satisfaction Scale (ESSS), adapted by Ribeiro (1999), show that the self-concept is below average and it is in the relationship with the family that social support has the lowest values, corroborating other studies.
