Internship reports and monograph entitled "Oncolytic viruses: what to expect from its use in cancer treatment"

Abstract

Resumo monografia - Vírus oncolíticos são agentes biológicos capazes de infetar e destruir seletivamente as células tumorais sem causar danos nas restantes. Adicionalmente, têm a capacidade de estimular o sistema imunitário do hospedeiro a atuar no sentido de eliminar o tumor. Os vírus oncolíticos podem ser estirpes selvagens ou vírus geneticamente modificados com o objetivo de aumentar a sua seletividade, eficácia e segurança. A administração destes vírus pode ser realizada em combinação com terapêuticas convencionais, como a quimioterapia, ou abordagens mais recentes, como é o caso dos inibidores de checkpoints. Atualmente, há inúmeros vírus oncolíticos a serem testados em ensaios clínicos para o tratamento de diversos tipos de cancro, o que sugere que esta abordagem pode vir a ser o futuro da terapia oncológica.; Resumo estágio em indústria farmacêutica - O presente relatório tem como objetivo descrever e avaliar o estágio curricular que realizei no departamento de Assuntos Regulamentares dos Laboratórios Expanscience durante 3 meses. São abordadas as atividades desenvolvidas, bem como as dificuldades sentidas e as competências adquiridas, através de uma reflexão sobre os vários pontos fortes, fracos, oportunidades e ameaças (análise SWOT).; Resumo estágio em farmácia comunitária - O presente relatório tem como objetivo descrever e avaliar o estágio curricular em farmácia comunitária que realizei na Farmácia Oudinot durante cerca de 4 meses. São abordadas as atividades desenvolvidas, bem como as dificuldades sentidas e as competências adquiridas, através de uma reflexão sobre os vários pontos fortes, fracos, oportunidades e ameaças (análise SWOT). Para além disso, foram incluídos alguns casos práticos com os quais me deparei durante o estágio.

Monograph - Oncolytic viruses are biologic agents able to selectively infect and destroy cancer cells while sparing the normal ones. Furthermore, they also stimulate host immune system to combat the tumor growth and promote tumor removal. Both wild-type and engineered viruses have been developed for targeting specific cancers and to improve the efficacy and safety of oncolytic virotherapy. Their potential as anticancer agents may also be enhanced through combination with other traditional therapies, like chemotherapy or more recent approaches, such as checkpoint inhibitors. There are many oncolytic viruses currently being tested in clinical trials for the treatment of various types of cancer, suggesting that this approach could become the future of the oncology field.; Internship report (pharmaceutical industry) - The aim of this report is to describe and evaluate the curricular internship I held in the Regulatory Affairs department of Laboratories Expanscience. The report addresses the activities performed, as well as the difficulties experienced and the acquired skills, through a reflection on the various strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT analysis).; Internship report (community pharmacy) - The aim of this report is to describe and evaluate the curricular internship I held in the community pharmacy “Farmácia Oudinot” for 4 months. The report addresses the activities performed, as well as the difficulties experienced and the acquired skills, through a reflection on the various strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT analysis). Additionally, it includes some practical cases which I found interesting during the internship.
