A relação identidade-conflito: o caso ucraniano

Abstract

O mundo atual reflete uma complexa realidade internacional que consiste numa multiplicidade de relações pacíficas e conflituantes entre estruturas e agentes que resultam em profundas mudanças identitárias dos povos. Assim, no âmbito desta problemática, o presente estudo debruça-se sobre o processo de construção identitária influenciada por diferentes atores, nos países que se tornam palco de guerra. Pretende-se compreender as causas e as consequências destes conflitos nas dinâmicas identitárias – vistas como sendo peças-chave no mosaico histórico de uma nação. Argumenta-se que a consideração da componente identitária é imprescindível para a desconstrução do processo de diferenciação das partes em confronto num conflito, constituído também uma fundamentação para a mobilização social e para o uso da força. Aposta-se na verificação do processo de co-constituição entre a identidade e o conflito através da analise dos atos discursivos, leis, criação de novas instituições e aparecimento de novas dinâmicas sociais. A dissertação foca o estudo de caso ucraniano, nomeadamente no contexto de crise associado aos protestos do EuroMaidan, da Revolução da Dignidade, da anexação da Crimeia e do conflito em Donbas, com o objetivo de verificar as mudanças e reciprocidades existentes entre o contexto histórico, a estrutura governamental e a sua orientação ideológica, com as dinâmicas de resistência e/ou alinhamento dos agentes, no processo de construção das identidades. Nesta análise foi aplicada a lente construtivista devido ao seu enfoque no processo de construção social e intersubjetiva de elementos como as identidades, a cultura, os interesses, as normas, os agentes e as estruturas – fundamentais para o entendimento das dinâmicas de categorização social e construção das matrizes de significados que levam à diferenciação, competição e conflitos.Através desta análise conclui-se que existe uma forte relação entre o conflito e a identidade e que as identidades se encontram em constante transformação, a qual se acentua com a gradual diferenciação do “eu” em relação ao “outro”, sustentada pelo entendimento intersubjetivo de significados e ações que guiam os interesses dos atores e são centrais para o desenrolar de dinâmicas de conflitualidade.

The contemporary world reflects a complex international reality that consists on a multiplicity of peaceful and conflicting relations between structures and agents, which result in deep changes at the level of national identities. Consequently, in this problematic context, this study focuses on the process of identity construction influenced by different actors, in countries that become stages of war. It is intended to understand the causes and consequences of these conflicts on the dynamics of the consolidation of identities – perceived as key pieces in the historical mosaic of nations.The author asserts that the consideration of the identity component is essential for the deconstruction of processes of differentiation between the conflicting parts, as well as the basis for social mobilization and the use of force. This study intends to verify the co-constitution process between identity and conflict through the analysis of discursive acts, laws, creation of new institutions and the emergence of new social dynamics.The dissertation focuses on the current Ukrainian crisis, namely the EuroMaidan protests, the Revolution of Dignity, the annexation of Crimea and the Donbas conflict, in order to emphasize the changes and existing reciprocities between the historical context, the governmental structure and their ideological orientation, with the dynamics of resistance and/or alignment of agents, in the identity construction processes. This analysis resorts to Constructivism as the theoretical framework due to its emphasis on the intersubjectivity of the process of social construction of elements such as identities, culture, interests, norms, agents and structures, considered as fundamental for understanding the dynamics of social categorization and the construction of milieus of meanings, which can take to differentiation, competition and conflicts.The study highlighted the existence of a strong relation between conflict and identity and the fact that identities are in permanent transformation, which results on the gradual differentiation of “us” from the “other”, sustained by the intersubjective meaning of actions that influence actors’ interests and are central to the development of conflicting dynamics.
