dc.description.abstract | The present study intends to understand the possible impact of the emigration that occurs in the filial subsystem in the perception of spouses with conjugalities of more than twenty years. The protocol was applied to a sample of 127 subjects and is composed of a Sociodemographic and Complementary Data Questionnaire, Enriching & Nurturing Relationship Issues, Communication & Happiness Scale – ENRICH (Lourenço & Relvas, 2003) and Dyadic Adjustment Scale – DAS (Lourenço & Relvas, 2003). By analyzing the results, our study indicates higher levels of perceived dyadic cohesion by spouses with at least one emigrated child. A higher level of dyadic cohesion also appears to be associated with spouses with ages between the range of 57 and 70 years. We found more positive perceptions regarding dimensions such as idealistic distortion, satisfaction, financial management and leisure activities (ENRICH) in the variable “duration of emigration” – from two to five years. The same dimensions have significantly lower levels when emigration lasts for six years or more. Emigration is becoming more and more evident nowadays and the impact of the emigration of children in the conjugality of parents is a phenomenon that needs to be investigated, a situation that gave rise to this work. This study introduces a novelty at this level and the data presented here may be useful for future investigations. Is is notable the presence of resources by the elements of the dyad and it is pertinent to deepen this theme. | eng |
