Dinâmicas de Povoamento no Concelho de Santa Comba Dão: do Período Romano à Idade Média.

Abstract

O desenrolar deste trabalho deveu-se, em primeiro lugar, a tentar perceber melhor a evolução do povoamento entre a época romana e a Idade Média no território beirão, junto à confluência dos rios Mondego, Dão e Criz, demarcado pelos limites do concelho de Santa Comba Dão. Procurou-se, portanto, colmatar algumas das lacunas no que respeita aos trabalhos arqueológicos aqui quase inexistentes, dando por isso, relevo em igual medida aos sítios identificados e aos materiais aí encontrados. As pesquisas de campo e a análise material foram os trabalhos arqueológicos que, somados à compilação histórica, historiográfica e toponímica, deram corpo à dissertação que agora se apresenta. Realizada inicialmente uma breve contextualização histórica do território em estudo ao longo do período que nos ocupa, passaremos depois à apresentação dos seus sítios arqueológicos, sendo especialmente destacadas aquelas estações inéditas ou, até ao momento, não inseridas na base de dados oficial (Endolvélico) da Direcção Geral do Património Cultural (DGPC), não descurando, ainda, da atualização dos dados já registados por meio da visita às estações inventariadas. De seguida, apresentaremos a metodologia e resultados dos trabalhos de análise material, através do qual foram catalogados e estudados artefactos arqueológicos obtidos, tanto nos nossos trabalhos de prospecção, quanto recolhidos em escavações antigas, tendo sido essa, essencialmente, a ferramenta que nos permitiu a realização de aproximações cronológicas aos arqueossítios apresentados. Finalmente, através da aplicação de modelos de povoamento antigo, tentaremos descortinar os padrões e evolução da ocupação no território analisado, assim como os traçados, ora comprovados, ora hipotéticos, da rede de caminhos responsável pela mobilidade dos grupos humanos em estudo.

The development of this work was due, first, to a better understanding of the portuguese Central region (Beira Alta), crossed by the rivers Mondego, Dão and Criz, bounded by the limits of Santa Comba Dão county, between Roman and Medieval times, seeking to fill some of the gaps with regard to the archaeological works, here almost non existent, thus giving relief in equal measure to the identified archaeological sites as well as it’s artifacts. Field research and material analysis were the archaeological works that, combined with the historical, historiographic and toponymic compilation, gave substance to the dissertation now presented.The structure of this work rests, initially, in a brief historical contextualization of the territory under study, throughout the period we are dealing with. After, will be presented its archaeological sites, especially those that remain unpublished, meaning, not included in the official database (Endolvélico) of the Directorate General of Cultural Heritage (DGPC), not neglecting the updating of the data already registered, performed by the revisit of the inventoried sites.Hereafter, will be presented the methodology and results of the material analysis work, wherewith archaeological artifacts obtained in prospecting campaigns, and in past excavations were cataloged and studied. This work of analysis consists, essentially, of the tool that allowed us to make chronological approximations to the presented archaeological sites.Lastly, through the application of old settlement models, we will try to identify the patterns and evolution of the occupation in the analyzed territory, as well as the tracings, either certain or hypothetical, of the ancient roads network responsible for the mobility of human groups under study.
