dc.description.abstract | The instability in the Middle East and North Africa has created the largest wave of refugees since World War II. Within this issue, Portugal has agreed to receive around 10 000 refugees, a very large number, given the low numerical expressiveness in the past. Although the Portuguese health service is universal and free for refugees, health services need to improve if they want to ensure full and equal access to refugees. Consequently, it is necessary to understand what knowledge doctors of General Practice/Family Medicine have regarding refugees and their implication in daily clinical practice towards new ethnic, cultural and religious realities, thus I propose the elaboration of a questionnaire addressed to doctors of this medical specialization so that this information can be obtained. The questionnaire “Expectations about refugees’ health” is seeking to assess the knowledge of doctors about the causes of refugee crises and refugee’s social and demographic profile, determine which is the perception about the refugee’s health, identify which difficulties may arise in patient-doctor relationship as regards diagnostic and therapeutic purposes and search for solutions to overcome the difficulties experienced by doctors in the context of medical appointment. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ | eng |
