O Google Earth no processo de ensino/aprendizagem dos acidentes litorais de Portugal Continental

Abstract

No presente relatório pretende-se descrever o trabalho desenvolvido ao longo do estágio pedagógico supervisionado, numa turma do 7.º ano de escolaridade, integrado no Mestrado em Ensino de Geografia no 3.º ciclo do Ensino Básico e no Ensino Secundário no ano letivo 2016/2017, assim como apresentar uma proposta de estratégia de exploração de conteúdos baseada no uso do “Google Earth”, adaptada à exploração do tema “Acidentes Litorais de Portugal Continental”.O relatório divide-se em quatro capítulos, sendo o primeiro dedicado ao trabalho desenvolvido ao longo do estágio supervisionado no Colégio São Teotónio. Nos segundo e terceiro capítulos é realizada uma contextualização e aprofundamento científico referente aos temas “A Dinâmica do Litoral - os acidentes litorais de Portugal Continental” e “As Tecnologias da Informação Geográfica no Ensino de Geografia”, dando particular ênfase ao Google Earth como recurso no ensino da Geografia. O último capítulo é dedicado à transposição didática, em que se utilizou o Google EarthTM como recurso no ensino/aprendizagem dos principais acidentes litorais de Portugal Continental. Nele se aborda a génese, implementação e os resultados da aplicação didática. As TIG, revelaram-se como um recurso educativo potencializador da aprendizagem e compreensão da Geografia, pois o uso destas ferramentas aproximam os domínios a lecionar à realidade dos alunos, captando a sua atenção através do enriquecimento visual e pela possibilidade de haver interatividade com os conteúdos, levando para a sala de aula uma sensação de realidade. A utilização do Google Earth, como recurso didático-pedagógico, veio demonstrar que a utilização das TIG no ensino/aprendizagem de Geografia é uma mais-valia na aprendizagem dos conteúdos geográficos por parte dos alunos. Com efeito, os alunos avaliaram de forma positiva o uso do GE no ensino/aprendizagem, revelando-se como uma estratégia adequada ao estudo dos acidentes litorais de Portugal Continental.

This report intends to describe the work developed during the supervised teaching practice with students from a 7th grade class, integrated in the Master’s Degree in Geography Teaching in the 3rd cycle of Basic and Secondary teaching during the school year 2016/2017. It will be also presented a proposal for strategy to explore geographic contents through Google Earth, adapting its use to explore the topic “Coastal Landfoms in Portugal Mainland”.The report is divided into four chapters. The first is dedicated to the work developed in the supervised internship in Colégio São Teotónio. In the second and third chapters a discussion about the topics “Coastal dynamics- coastal landforms of Portugal’s mainland” and “The Geographic Information Technologies in Geography Education” is contextualized and explored, with a particular emphasis on the Google Earth as a resource to support geography teaching. The fourth and final chapter is dedicated to the didactic transposition, where Google Earth was used as a resource in teaching/learning about the main coastal landforms in Portugal mainland. The genesis, implementation and results of the didactic application are presented in this chapter.The GIT were revealed as an educational resource with potential to improve the learning and comprehension of geography, since the use of these tools render the concepts closer to the students reality, capturing their attention through a more practical approach. Furthermore, the tool created the possibility for the students to interact with the concepts, bringing to the classroom a sense of reality.The use of Google EarthTM, as a didactic-pedagogical resource, demonstrates that the use of GIT in the teaching/learning of Geography is, for the students, an asset to learn geographic concepts and contents. Consequently, the students rated positively the use of Google Earth in the classroom and, at the same time, it was verified the efficacy of its implementation in the study of the selected issue.
