Modern football has over time revealed a several of attitudes and behaviors of sports fans that can be understood and considered as tribal, because of the club's great passion, which unites individuals in supporting the team, sharing places of worship, terminology and symbolism. The project work presented here aims to identify and understand the motivations that lead the fans to become involved and to integrate a sport tribal group, and the potentialities that such behavior has for the sports organization. For this, one of the great national clubs, Sporting Clube de Portugal, was the object of research in this study. The research developed was quantitative and focused on supporters and members of the club, representing various ages, both sexes, members and non-members status. The results showed that the members were more imported with all the variables included in the study than the non-members, which demonstrates their greater involvement and attachment to the club.Regarding confirmation of the hypotheses raised, it was verified that the motivation "Identification" and "Internalization" are key elements for adherents to join the tribal group. On the other hand, in the potentialities, it is noticed that the tribal group confirms as potentialities the "Brand Advocacy", "Attitude of Loyalty", "Brand Love", "Commitment" and "Consumption of Merchandising".In short, the results allow to stimulate tribal research in the context of sports marketing, aiming to establish and strengthen the links between supporters who unite around a common passion, to support the club.
