Contra el Estado Novo y el Nuevo Estado. El movimiento estudiantil ibérico antifascista

Abstract

En el presente artículo pretendemos confrontar la evolución de los movimientos estudiantiles portugueses y españoles durante sus dictaduras, centrando el análisis en las décadas de los sesenta y setenta. Se recurre a diversas fuentes primarias (entre ellas las estudiantiles) así como bibliografía científica, elaborando un ejercicio de historia comparada con la que establecemos las principales etapas y sus peculiariedades que caracterizaron la eferverscencia estudiantil de aquellos años. Todo ello encuadrado en la dinamica cultural y política internacional. A pesar de existir especificidades en cada país, se defiende que el movimiento estudiantil ibérico de estos años estuvo sometido a una cadencia reivindicativa similar, que pasó desde una fase de «autonomía estudiantil» hasta otra caracterizada por la altísima politización (cuya preocupación nuclear se encontraba fuera de la Universidad), precedida de la ruptura del movimiento unitario con la proliferación de organizaciones izquierdistas.

In this article we aim to compare the evolution of the Portuguese and Spanish student movements during their dictatorships in sixties and seventies. We turn to primary sources (including those of the students) as well as specialized bibliography to elaborate a comparative history in which we establish the main phases and the peculiarities which characterized the bustle of the times within an international political and cultural context. Even though there are distinctive features within each country, we argue that the student movements of the Iberian Peninsula at that time share common features that went from an initial stage of «student autonomy» to a highly politicized phase in which the main concern lay outside the university, which was preceded by the dissolution of the unitarian movement due to the spread of extreme-left organizations in the university.
