ABSTRACT The huge values associated to transfers of football players, result of capitalization of the sportivus universe, triggered the interest of third party investors, boosting the birth of contractual mechanisms which allow the participation of third party investors in the economic rights of the athlete, a phenomenon known as Third Party Ownership – TPO. The lack of regulation and appropriate legal and regulatory framework on the subject, brings several suspicions regarding the admissibility of such a phenomenon. Focusing the research on a perspective centered on the labor law, we analyze the possibility of reconciling such practices with the labor rights of the athlete, demanding regulation and a suitable legal framework which would guarantee the fulfillment of the labor rights of the athletepor
