dc.description.abstract | The external wall coatings provide protection of support, forming a barrier to external actions. So, it should has fundamental characteristics for a good performance, with mechanical and hygrothermal properties appropriate. In antiquity, the incorporation of waste ceramic red clay in lime mortars aims the improvement of mechanical, physical and chemical properties of mortars. Therefore, the buildings now considered old, presented mortar with formulations and raw materials different than the most current these days. The issue of compatibility is one of the major factors to consider in the rehabilitation of old buildings wall coatings. The replacement coating must be compatible with the support and with the older mortars to be as durable as possible. It should therefore be used mortars with the appearance and constitution as similar as possible to the original. The introduction of ceramic waste besides giving technical advantages to mortars, also provide economic and environmental valorization of such waste, promoting the concept of sustainability. Thus the rehabilitation and sustainability can create a strong connection. In this work, it was intended to analyze the influence of waste quarry of red clay incorporated in natural hydraulic lime mortars (NHL 3.5) and sand with volumetric traces of 1:3 and 1:4. The incorporation of residues was made in dispersed granulometry, with partial substitution of 20% and 40% volume of aggregate. The results were compared with mortars only of natural hydraulic lime and sand, called reference mortars. The mortars were assayed at 28 days and 60 days, to mechanical and hygrothermal properties. Was verified that mortars with incorporation of waste had better results to hygrothermal and mechanical tests, except for drying and water absorption by capillarity | eng |
