Os lugares e as suas arquitecturas de relação : construção de um mapeamento identitário da cidade partindo das relações entre sujeito e espaço

Abstract

Este trabalho tem por objectivo aprofundar a relação entre o sujeito e o espaço urbano, tendo por base uma ideia da cidade que se realiza na associação da sua parte construída com sistemas imateriais, permitindo a estes últimos concretizarem-se no território e serem potenciados através dele. Na perspectiva de que a identidade é produto desta relação, propõe-se a elaboração de um método de mapeamento da mesma, tomando os lugares representativos da cidade e as suas arquitecturas de relação (conceito de autor) como coordenadas: pontos físicos onde a subjectividade das relações humanas se funde com a estrutura material da cidade. Avança-se ainda com uma aplicação exemplificativa deste método a três praças da cidade de Coimbra, tendo por objectivo testar a transposição para a prática dos conceitos desenvolvidos e justificar a importância e utilidade do reconhecimento da identidade de cada lugar e do seu contexto enquanto ferramenta para a intervenção na cidade.

The present work aims to examine the existent relationship between the dweller and the urban space, based on an idea of the achievement of the city through the relation of its constructed part with immaterial systems, allowing the latter to materialize itself on the territory and to be strengthened by it. Considering identity as a product of this relationship, it is proposed the elaboration of a methodical mapping approach, having as coordinates the city’s most representative places and theirs architectures of relation (author’s concept): both physical points where the subjectivity of human relations is merged with the material structure of the city. It is also proposed an exemplary application of this approach to three squares of Coimbra, with the intent to test the practical transposition of the mentioned concepts and to justify the importance and utility of acknowledging the identity of each place and its particular context as an architectural design tool.
