Tecnologia de injeção sem agulhas: desafios e oportunidades

Abstract

O considerável número de inconvenientes associados à administração de formulações farmacêuticas através de agulhas tem fomentado a investigação e desenvolvimento de novas metodologias. A tecnologia de injeção sem agulhas é um sistema promissor, existindo atualmente alguns modelos disponíveis no mercado mundial. Esses sistemas tecnológicos, que incluem injetores a jato de formulações líquidas e injetores de pó, são dispositivos adaptados para a administração de diferentes tipos de fármacos e vacinas através da pele, sendo considerados um método minimamente invasivo. As indústrias farmacêuticas não estão apenas focadas em desenvolver esta tecnologia por ser mais segura e fácil de utilizar, mas também pelo desafio de se conseguir administrar uma maior diversidade de fármacos. Na presente monografia é feita uma revisão das vantagens e desvantagens do uso da tecnologia de injeção sem agulhas, dos mecanismos de ação inerentes, dos diferentes tipos de injetores, bem como aplicações e perspectivas futuras na terapêutica

The considerable number of drawbacks associated with the delivery of pharmaceutical formulations through needles has encouraged the research and development in new methodologies. The needle-free injection technology is a promising system with some models already available in the market. These systems, which include liquid and powder jet injectors, are devices adapted to the delivery of different types of drugs and vaccines through the skin using a minimally invasive method. The pharmaceutical companies are not only focused on developing this technology because it is safer and easier to use, but also on the inherent challenge to deliver a wide range of drugs. This review describes the advantages and disadvantages of the use of needle-free injection technology, the inherent mechanisms of action, the different types of injectors, as well as the applications and future prospects in therapy
