This research provides an analysis of the treatment in the Greek vases iconography to the image of mythological creatures that have musical aspects. To that, were selected four creatures whose influence is present in the Greek cultural imaginary: Sirens, Orpheus, Marsyas and Thamyras. The iconographic representations will be analyzed, then, from the mythological characterization of each character, given their presence in the literary tradition to which we have access in order to relate both modes of representation, literary and iconographic, identifying similarities and discrepancies between the forms of transmission of the myth. Making prevail the representative aspect of the myth, will be raised aspects relating to their musical sphere, as the type of instrument used and the applied variations, as well as possible explanations for these variations. Going through the historical course of iconographic assimilation of each of the characters, from the century XIII BC to the IV BC, the analysis aims to expose the changes, stays and breaks in the myth approach at the iconographic language of the Greek ceramic vases, considering period of production and allocation given to the material analyzed, as the context in which is inserted, when possible.
