Educação para a saúde: qual o papel do médico de família?

Abstract

Neste trabalho, o autor procura dar a conhecer o modo como percebeu a função do Médico de Família na Educação para a Saúde ao longo do Estágio Programado e Orientado em Medicina Geral e Familiar (6º ano profissionalizante do Mestrado Integrado em Medicina da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Coimbra), bem como da prática adquirida ao longo das demais Unidades Curriculares. São analisadas as lacunas do modelo actual, à luz da experiência como formando e dirigente associativo, sendo propostas algumas estratégias alternativas que permitam identificar e colmatar as falhas encontradas numa área chave da Saúde. Conclui-se que há défices significativos na comunicação sobre EpS, reflectindo dificuldades inerentes aos interlocutores ou ao conteúdo das mensagens.

With this assignment, the author intends to show how he understood the role of the Family Doctor in Education for Health during the Internship in General Practice (final year of the MSc in Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Coimbra, Portugal) and the preparation attained in other curricular units throughout. The current model’s failures are analyzed in the light of experience as a student and academic lead, and some alternative strategies to identify and address flaws found in such a key area of Health are proposed. It is concluded that there are significant deficits in communication on Education for Health, reflecting difficulties inherent either to the parties involved or the content of messages provided.
