O uso de embriões humanos em investigação científica : visão ética

Abstract

A investigação em células embrionárias é um dos temas mais actuais e mais controversos em que a nossa sociedade está envolvida, trazendo consigo questões éticas importantes que devem ser discutidas e, sobretudo, legisladas de forma a que não haja actos não pensados que podem interferir com o curso natural do percurso humano. As técnicas de Procriação Medicamente Assistida (PMA) trouxeram consigo embriões excedentários que não são utilizados e que, por isso, são criopreservados. O número crescente de embriões extra-corporais levaram ao emergir de questões como as de permissibilidade para realização de pesquisas, que tem vindo a ser traduzida nos termos de quais os atributos que conferem ao embrião o carácter de Pessoa e quando se instala nele esta condição. A legislação Portuguesa actual tem leis específicas sobre a investigação com recurso a embriões, proibindo a sua criação através da PMA com o objectivo deliberado da sua utilização para experimentação. As questões éticas que esta prática cada vez mais frequente levanta, levam à necessidade de criação de leis rigorosas que não levam a interpretações equívocas e que lesa os que não as seguem.

The research on embryonic cells is one of the most current and controversial issues that our society is involved , bringing important ethical issues that should be discussed and especially legislated so that there are no acts that are not thought that may interfere with the natural course of the human journey . The assisted reproduction techniques brought surplus embryos that are not used and therefore are cryopreserved . The increasing number of extra -corporeal embryos led to the emergence of issues such as the permissibility for conducting research , which has been translated in terms of the attributes that give the embryo the status of person and when it settles this condition . The current Portuguese legislation has specific laws on research using embryos by preventing its creation by assisted reproduction techniques with the deliberate purpose of their use for experimentation . The ethical issues that this increasingly common practice raises , lead to the necessity of creating strict laws that do not lead to misinterpretation and it harms those who do not follow them .
