dc.description.abstract | The present study aims to study the impact of sociodemographic and family variables in the beliefs and treatment adherence in a sample of chronically ill Angolans. For this purpose examined whether the internal consistency of the questionnaire items Beliefs about Disease (Brief IPQ) and the Measure of Treatment Adherence (MAT). Both instruments showed good internal consistency, with Cronbach's alpha was 0.77 for the Brief IPQ and 0.71 for MAT. This research had a sample of 100 subjects with tuberculosis. The results of this study revealed that sociodemographic variables did not have a significant impact on beliefs about illness and treatment adherence, with the exception of the gender variable that appears to have a statistically significant impact on beliefs about the disease, with men more threatening than beliefs women. With regard to family variables, household composition also appears to significantly influence either the beliefs or adherence to treatment. This study is exploratory in nature, therefore we aim that new studies with the Brief IPQ and the MAT are made. | por |
