Atitude Face ao Futuro, Satisfação com a Vida e Raciocínio Sistemático em Novas Situações. Estudo com uma amostra de estudantes do Ensino Superior

Abstract

No presente trabalho procurámos averiguar se existia alguma relação entre as variáveis atitude face ao futuro, satisfação com a vida e raciocínio sistemático em novas situações. Com esse objetivo, aplicámos a Escala de Atitudes Relativamente ao Futuro (Time Attitude Scale - TAS), a Escala de Satisfação com a Vida (Satisfaction With Life Scale - SWLS) e o Teste de Dominós D48 a uma amostra de 319 sujeitos, estudantes dos 1º, 2º e 3º anos das Licenciaturas de Animação Socioeducativa, Educação Básica e Musica, da Escola Superior de Educação do Instituto Politécnico de Coimbra. Em termos gerais, ao nível das variáveis acima mencionadas, encontrou-se uma relação positiva e significativa entre a atitude face ao futuro e a satisfação com a vida. A variável raciocínio sistemático em novas situações não se mostrou relacionada com nem com a atitude face ao futuro nem com a satisfação com a vida. Adicionalmente, no âmbito desta investigação, com uma amostra de 241 estudantes de várias Licenciaturas da Escola Superior de Educação do Instituto Politécnico de Coimbra, efetuou-se uma análise confirmatória da Escala de Atitudes Relativamente ao Futuro (Time Attitude Scale -TAS), tendo-se mostrado apropriada a supressão de um fator (Distância Temporal) e a eliminação de três itens da referida Escala. Realizou-se ainda uma análise cognitiva (e respetiva categorização) dos itens do Teste de Dominós D48. Ao que sabemos, esta tarefa nunca havia sido realizada com este teste de dominós. A nosso ver, estas diligências com o Teste D48 permitiram obter algumas informações relevantes que poderão ser úteis, quer no domínio da prática da avaliação psicológica com este teste quer numa eventual futura revisão desta prova. Por último, do conjunto total dos resultados obtidos, procurámos retirar implicações suscetíveis de melhorar a nossa atividade pedagógica junto dos/das estudantes do Ensino Superior com os/as quais trabalhamos.

In this study we sought to determine whether there was any relation between the variables Attitude Towards the Future, Life Satisfaction and Systematic Reasoning In New Situations. With this aim in mind we applied the Time Attitude Scale (TAS), the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) and the Dominoes Test D48 to a sample of 319 subjects: students of 1st, 2nd and 3rd years of the undergraduate courses of Socio-Educative Animation, Basic Education and Music, from the College of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra, in Portugal. We found a significant positive relationship between Attitude Towards the Future and Satisfaction With Life. The Systematic Reasoning in New Situations was not related neither with the Attitude Towards the Future, neither with Satisfaction With Life.

In addition to this investigation, we performed a confirmatory analysis of the TAS with a sample of 242 students of several undergraduate courses from the same institution, which proved an appropriate suppression of the Temporal Distance factor and, therefore, the elimination of three items of the TAS.

We also held a cognitive analysis (and its respective categorization) of items from the Dominoes Test D48. As far as we researched, this task has never been done with this test. In our view, these steps with the D48 Test allowed to obtain some relevant information that may be useful, either in the field of practice of psychological assessment with this test, either on a possible future revision of this test. A last, from the full set of results, we tried to withdraw implications that aim to the improvement of our educational activity towards the students with whom we work.
