Modelo trifatorial da psicopatia: características psicométricas da versão portuguesa do Inventário de Traços Psicopáticos - ITP

Abstract

O modelo trifatorial da psicopatia proposto por Cooke e Michie (2001) conceptualiza o construto de psicopatia a partir de um conjunto de três dimensões da personalidade: estilo interpessoal arrogante e dissimulado, experienciação afetiva deficitária e estilo comportamental impulsivo e irresponsável. Tendo como referência este modelo, o Inventário de Traços Psicopáticos (ITP; Andershed, Kerr, Stattin, & Levander, 2002; tradução e adaptação portuguesa de Simões, Abrunhosa Gonçalves & Lopes, 2010) avalia a existência de traços psicopáticos em adolescentes. Numa amostra de 834 adolescentes da população geral, a dimensionalidade do inventário foi verificada através de uma Análise Fatorial Confirmatória. Os resultados confirmam uma estrutura idêntica à versão original (Andershed et al., 2002). Os dados mostram que o inventário possui uma boa consistência interna (ITP total = .929), uma adequada estabilidade temporal e uma boa validade convergente. À semelhança de outras investigações, a subescala frieza emocional apresentou resultados pouco robustos. Apesar das limitações encontradas, os dados obtidos sugerem o ITP como uma medida útil para ser utilizada na população adolescente portuguesa, tornando-se necessário, em futuras investigações, o aprimoramento da escala, bem como, a confirmação dos resultados com outro tipo de amostras.

The trifactorial model of psychopathy proposed by Cooke and Michie (2001) conceptualizes the construct of psychopathy from three dimensions of personality: an arrogant and deceitful interpersonal style, a deficient affective experience style and an impulsive and irresponsible behavior style. Having this model as a reference, the Youth Psychopathic Traits Inventory (YPI; Andershed, Kerr, Stattin, & Levander, 2002; Portuguese version by Simões, Abrunhosa Gonçalves & Lopes, 2010) measures the existence of psychopathic traits in adolescents. In a sample of 834 adolescents from general population, the dimensionality of the inventory was tested by a Confirmatory Fator Analysis. The results demonstrated a similar structure to the original version (Andershed et al., 2002). Data showed that the inventory has a good internal consistence (YPI total = .929), an adequate temporal stability and a satisfactory convergent validity. Parallel to other studies, the callousness subscale, showed little robust results. Despite having found some limitations on the study, data suggest that the YPI is a useful instrument to be applied in Portuguese adolescent population, demanding, however, in future investigations, the improvement of scale and the replication of results in other kind of samples.
