Keywords: | Ensino da música; Rendimento escolar; Aluno | Issue Date: | 31-Jul-2013 | Serial title, monograph or event: | O ensino especializado da música como promotor da aprendizagem | Place of publication or event: | Coimbra | Abstract: | O presente trabalho pretende fundamentalmente relacionar o tipo de ensino (artístico e
terceiro ciclo do ensino básico.
This work aims to fundamentally relate the nature of art education (artistic and regular) with academic success and appropriate behavior in the school contexts of students who attend the Escola Básica e Secundária Quinta das Flores, in Coimbra. For this purpose, we designed a quantitative causal-comparative research (ex-post facto), with a sample made up of two independent groups of students: those who attend the regular curricula and those who attend artistic music education. The sample included 87 students in Year 7, 94 students in Year 8 and 99 students from Year 9 aged 11 to 17 years of age. The instruments for data collection will be the end of year marks (relative to the frequency of the 7th, 8th and 9th grades), reports of the school quality observatory and of the year head teachers and questionnaires to students in the 9th grade (in the current school year) of both groups mentioned and their respective parents, in order to evaluate aspects related to motivation and choice of type of learning. The various data collected were analyzed descriptively and the main study hypotheses were tested using the t test and the x2 test. We highlighted, in terms of the most important results obtained, that the students who attend the music school present articulated academic performance, attendance (at the level of unexcused absences) and behavior significantly better than students who attend regular school. The students attending the music school also present articulated goals which tend to be more oriented to mastery than the students who attend regular school but do not have goals to guide the result type approach significantly different. |
