Trabalho e escravidão na região norte do Brasil : velhas e novas formas de exploração no mundo laboral

Abstract

O trabalho possui várias facetas e muitas estão ocultas. No Brasil, principalmente na década de 90, quando houve uma maior abertura comercial ocorreram diversas transformações no mundo laboral. Surgiram novas e velhas formas de exploração, precariedade, flexibilização e informalidade no trabalho. A escravidão contemporânea no Brasil é uma infeliz realidade. Na região Norte do país é alarmante a quantidade de pessoas libertadas da escravidão nos últimos anos. A Amazônia por possuir grande extensão de terras propícias ao plantio atrai grandes latifundiários e posseiros que em busca do lucro exploram a terra e o trabalho dos homens. A escravidão ou qualquer forma de trabalho precário é proibida no Brasil, no entanto a vasta legislação por si só não consegue penetrar nessas comunidades. O governo juntamente com a sociedade civil organizada e o terceiro setor procuram formas de combater e erradicar a escravidão. É nesse contexto que o presente trabalho traz uma reflexão sócio-jurídica sobre o termo escravidão, a legislação pertinente, as formas existentes de combate e, sobretudo, faz apontamentos para atingir a verdadeira eficiência para a erradicação dessa vergonha.

Labor has numerous facets and many of them are hidden. In Brazil, mainly in the 90s, when there was a greater trade opening, there were several changes in the labor world. New and old ways of exploitation, precariousness, flexibilisation and labor informality appeared. The contemporary slavery in Brazil is an unfortunate reality. The number of people freed from slavery in recent years in the northern region of the country is alarming. The Amazon rainforest, which has a large amount of land conducive to planting, attracts large landowners and squatters who exploit the land and the men work for profit. Slavery or any kind of precarious work is forbidden in Brazil, however the vast legislation alone cannot reach these communities. The government along with the organized civil society and the third sector is looking for ways to combat and eradicate slavery. It is in this context that this paper presents a socio-legal reflection on the term slavery, the relevant legislation, existing forms of combat and, above all, it makes remarks for achieving real efficiency in the eradication of this shame.
