O assédio sexual nas instituições de Ensino Superior em Portugal - representações de estudantes relativamente ao género

Abstract

O assédio sexual é uma forma de violência de género que tem vindo a ganhar atenção no seio das Instituições de Ensino Superior em Portugal (IES), no entanto, a investigação neste domínio é escassa. A vitalidade da Convenção de Istambul gerou acesos debates em torno desta problemática, expurgando os entendimentos acerca dos comportamentos que engloba e gerando (des)acordos que se prendem com a ilicitude do flirt e da sedução. Partindo da análise temática de focus groups, pretende-se explorar os entendimentos sobre o feminino e o masculino e a articulação com o assédio sexual. Esta análise conclui que prevalece a perpetuação de imagens estereotipadas que assentam em pressupostos patriarcais que têm vindo a manter a mulher numa posição subalterna.

Sexual harassment is a form of gender-based violence that has been gaining attention within Higher Education Institutions in Portugal (HEIs), however, research in this area is scarce. The vitality of the Istanbul Convention has generated heated debates around this issue, purging understandings about the behaviours it encompasses and generating (dis)agreements regarding the illicit nature of flirting and seduction. Based on a thematic analysis of focus groups, the aim is to explore understandings of femininity and masculinity and their articulation with sexual harassment. This analysis concludes that stereotypical images prevail, based on patriarchal assumptions which have maintained women in a subordinate position.
