ESPAÇO DE DIÁLOGO, DIÁLOGO DE ESPAÇ̧OS NA RONDA DA NOITE, DE AGUSTINA BESSA-LUÍS

Abstract

Os romances de Agustina Bessa-Luís revelam uma configuração espacial complexa não só porque a intriga gira em tornos de múltiplos espaços, mas também porque a relação entre espaços e sujeitos é verdadeiramente intricada e interdependente. A densidade psicológica, que a crítica há muito vem reconhecendo nas personagens da escritora, também é fruto desta relação dos sujeitos com o universo espacial em que se movem. Este estudo tem como objetivo abordar esta peculiar relação espacial no romance A Ronda da Noite, a última obra da escritora, à luz da teorização de Marie-Laure Ryan, de Ansgar Nünning e Ozíris Borges Filho. Pretende-se observar qual a configuração espacial do romance e em que medida os espaços concorrem para criar profundidade no mundo interior das personagens. Um dos principais motivos do romance consiste em encontrar espaço para expor o quadro A Ronda da Noite que pertence à família. Deste modo, a própria pintura revela ser um peculiar espaço dentro da vivência espacial das personagens, gerando uma ambientação ficcional peculiar. Será então analisado o modo como se realiza esta interferência espacial e os seus vários significados.

Agustina Bessa-Luís novels show a complex spatial configuration not only because the plot revolves around multiple spaces, but also because the relationship between spaces and characters is greatly intricated and intertwined. The great psychological density of all her characters, long time acknowledged by the critique, is also a product of their relationship with the spatial universe where they move around and live. The purpose of this study is to consider this peculiar spatial relationship in her last novel A Ronda da Noite (The Night Watch), in the framework of Marie-Laure Ryan, Ansgar Nünning and Ozíris Borges Filho theories. The spatial configuration of the novel and how spaces contribute to the creation of deepness in the characters’ inner world will be examined. One of the main leitmotifs in the plot of the novel consists of finding the space to exhibit the painting A Ronda da Noite (The Night Watch) which belongs to the family. Therefore, the painting itself becomes a peculiar space within the experienced space of the characters, giving rise to a peculiar fictional atmosphere. It will be analysed how this spatial interference and their meanings are configured.
