Nos Passos de Galateia: A Escultura e as suas imagens

Abstract

Partimos da hipótese de existência da “imagem-corpo”, para cá (do corpo) e para lá (da imagem), num movimento ininterrupto de conceitos para a construção do “outro”. Esta “imagem-corpo”, estabelece-se no diálogo entre o corpo bidimensional da imagem projetada e o corpo-carne-matéria do espectador no dispositivo da instalação espacial site-specific. Galateia surge como figura que, vinda de uma tradição mítica, corporiza a ideia que aqui se persegue e que se constitui, como hipótese, numa presença híbrida que transita da imobilidade (morte) para a ação (vida). Assim, observamos o passo de Galateia, no instante em que a transformação se concretiza, em que o inanimado se torna vivente, situando-nos entre, no momento da passagem de uma coisa a outra.

We start from the hypothesis of the existence of the “body-image”, here (from the body) and beyond (from the image), in an uninterrupted movement of concepts for the construction of the “other”, that we approach here a notion of hybrid. this“body-image”, establishes itself in the dialogue between the two-dimensional body of the projected image and the body-昀氀esh-matter of the spectator in the de- vice of the site-speci昀椀c installation. Galateia appears as a 昀椀gure who, coming from a mythical tradition, embodies the idea that is pursued here and which, as a hypothesis, constitutes a hybrid presence that transits from immobility (death) to action (life). thus, we observe the passage of Galateia, the moment the transformation takes place, in which the inanimate becomes living, placing us in between, at the moment of passing from one thing to another.
