A Cultura em Mangualde: a Biblioteca Municipal e o estudo sobre os soldados do concelho na Grande Guerra

Abstract

Culture plays a fundamental role in territories to strengthen development, sustainability, and territorial cohesion. Especially in low-density regions, solutions need to be found to create cultural dynamics that boost the territory's culture, memory, and identities.In Mangualde, culture plays an essential role, and the Municipal Library is the vital center of this cultural dynamic. As well as providing essential services to promote reading, the library offers a wide range of cultural events and activities aimed at satisfying the community.Throughout this report we will describe the work carried out at the Mangualde Municipal Library during my six-month internship. We will present not only the initiatives in which I was directly involved in terms of organization, but also in which I had the opportunity to take the initiative to implement them and play a significant role in their management, programming, and production.This report will also help to recover the memory of the anonymous faces of those who were torn from their quiet routines and thrown into the horrors of war. We will focus on the soldiers from Mango who went to the front, facing challenges that changed their lives and those of their families. By highlighting these local heroes and their homeland, we hope to honor the memory, legacy, and role of this region in the Great War, taking advantage of this opportunity to investigate and reflect on the impacts of one of the world's bloodiest and most devastating conflicts.

A cultura assume um papel fundamental nos territórios no sentido de fortalecer o desenvolvimento, a sustentabilidade e a coesão territorial. Principalmente nas regiões de baixa densidade é necessário encontrar soluções para criar dinâmicas culturais que impulsionem a cultura, a memória e as identidades do território. Em Mangualde, a cultura desempenha um papel essencial e a Biblioteca Municipal é o centro vital dessa dinâmica cultural. Para além de dispor de serviços essenciais à promoção da leitura, a biblioteca apresenta uma vasta gama de evento e atividades culturais direcionadas para a satisfação da comunidade. Ao longo do presente relatório iremos descrever o trabalho desenvolvido na Biblioteca Municipal de Mangualde durante os seis meses de estágio curricular. Apresentaremos não somente as iniciativas nas quais estive diretamente envolvido em termos de organização, mas também nas quais tive oportunidade de tomar a iniciativa para implementá-las e desempenhar um papel significativo na gestão, programação e produção das mesmas. Este relatório também proporcionará a recuperação da memória dos rostos anónimos daqueles que foram arrancados das suas rotinas tranquilas e lançados nos horrores da guerra. Abordaremos os soldados mangualdenses que partiram para a frente de combate, enfrentando desafios que mudaram as suas vidas e as das suas famílias. No sentido de colocar em ênfase estes heróis locais e a sua terra natal, esperamos honrar a memória, o legado e o papel desta região na Grande Guerra, aproveitando esta oportunidade de investigar e refletir sobre os impactos de um dos mais sangrentos e devastadores conflitos mundiais.
