Conexões: O edifício como ordem urbana e como elemento conectivo etéreo

Abstract

Entre o Polo II e a Quinta da Portela, encontra-se Vila Franca, uma zona maioritariamente de habitação unifamiliar, sem um plano urbano definido, onde a maioria das habitações se foram apropriando do território de forma aleatória. Ao longo dos anos foram sendo construídos anexos ilegais, aumentando os limites parcelários e das suas propriedades. Nos locais onde não existe habitação, permanece um enorme terreno baldio, sem um uso concreto, denominado por Pinhal de Marrocos, com algumas ligações às residências em terra batida e algumas ruas sem saída ou sem continuidade que provêm do Plano Urbano da Quinta da Portela e do Polo II, cuja área detém um enorme potencial de expansão.O presente trabalho surge no âmbito da cadeira de Atelier de Projeto, onde foi lançado o desafio de criar uma estratégia de desenho urbano para a zona referida anteriormente, com o tema intitulado “Construir o Limite” concedendo unidade e ligações à envolvente, requalificando o local e as zonas degradadas de Vila Franca, de forma a facilitar a sua integração com o Polo II e a Quinta da Portela. O desenvolvimento deste trabalho consiste em atribuir uniformidade à zona, através da proposta de implementação de um edifício localizado num local estratégico, dotado de um elevado valor entre a cidade e o edifício. O mesmo também proporciona conexões espaciais, programáticas e sociais. O propósito desta dissertação consiste numa nova proposta de requalificação urbana, dando destaque ao espaço, às suas características programáticas e à sua resolução arquitetónica, evidenciando-se em relação à sua envolvente. Em síntese, este projeto procura tirar partido da sua implantação, através da construção de um polo unificador que possibilitará diversas conexões. As mesmas serão estudadas e aprofundadas, de forma que se perceba o modo em que um edifício pode representar um elemento de ligação urbana, promovendo, ao mesmo tempo, o lazer e a cultura.

Between Polo II and Quinta da Portela, there is Vila Franca, an area mostly of single-family housing, without a defined urban plan, where most of the dwellings were randomly appropriating the territory. Over the years, illegal annexes were built, increasing the boundaries of parcels and their properties. In places where there is no housing, there remains a huge vacant lot, without a concrete use, called Pinhal de Marrocos, with some connections to houses on dirt and some dead-end or non-continuous streets that come from the Urban Plan of Quinta da Portela or the Polo II, whose area has enormous potential for expansion.The present work arises within the scope of the architecture design studio, where the challenge of creating an urban design strategy for the area was launched, with the theme entitled “Building the Limit”, granting unity and connections to the surroundings, requalifying the place and the degraded areas of Vila Franca, to facilitate their integration with Polo II and Quinta da Portela. The development of this work consists of attributing uniformity to the area, through the proposal of implementing a building located in a strategic location, endowed with a high value between the city and the building. It also provides spatial, programmatic, and social connections.The purpose of this dissertation is a new proposal for urban requalification, emphasizing the space, its programmatic characteristics, and its architectural resolution, highlighting itself in relation to its surroundings. In summary, this project seeks to take advantage of its implementation, through the construction of a unifying pole that will enable several connections. They will be studied and deepened, to understand the way in which a building can represent an element of urban connection, promoting, at the same time, leisure, and culture.
