Diversidade de macrofungos no Jardim Botânico da Universidade de Coimbra

Abstract

Os fungos são um grupo de organismos muito diverso e fundamental para o bom funcionamento dos ecossistemas. Este trabalho explorou a diversidade de macrofungos do Jardim Botânico da Universidade de Coimbra (JBUC). O trabalho teve como objetivos a criação de uma checklist das espécies de macrofungos encontrados no JBUC, a preservação dos exemplares encontrados de forma a criar uma coleção micológica de referência no Herbário da Universidade de Coimbra (COI), a disponibilização dos resultados de campo na plataforma de Ciência Cidadã Biodiversity4All/iNaturalist e a sua associação permanente aos exemplares de herbário.No decorrer do trabalho de campo (setembro de 2022 a março de 2023) foram feitas 185 observações pertencentes a 145 taxa. Uma vez coletados e identificados os cogumelos, foi feita uma análise dos dados obtidos. Entre outros aspetos, foi estudada a distribuição dos cogumelos pelos vários espaços do jardim botânico, o grupo trófico dos macrofungos encontrados, a taxonomia das espécies identificadas e a relação entre as condições atmosféricas (precipitação e temperatura) e a frutificação dos esporomas.Com este trabalho, concluiu-se que o Jardim Botânico da Universidade de Coimbra é um local rico em diversidade de macrofungos. Espera-se que a checklist criada neste trabalho possa constituir a base de futuros estudos da biodiversidade local e ser uma ferramenta útil ao planeamento de atividades de sensibilização com foco no reino Fungi, a sua importância e necessidade de proteção.

Fungi are a very diverse group of organisms, and they are fundamental for the proper functioning of ecosystems. This work explored the diversity of macrofungi in the Botanical Garden of the University of Coimbra (JBUC). The goals of this work were to create a checklist of the macrofungal species found at JBUC, to preserve the specimens found in order to create a reference mycological collection at the Coimbra University Herbarium (COI), to make the field results available on the Citizen Science platform Biodiversity4All/iNaturalist and to permanently associate them with the herbarium specimens.During the course of the fieldwork (September 2022 to March 2023), 185 observations belonging to 145 taxa were made. Once the mushrooms were collected and identified, an analysis of the data obtained was performed. Among other aspects, the distribution of mushrooms throughout the various spaces of the botanical garden was studied, as well as the trophic group of the fungi found, the taxonomy of the species identified, and the relationship between atmospheric conditions (precipitation and temperature) and the fruiting of sporomes.With this work, it was concluded that the Botanical Garden of the University of Coimbra is a site rich in macrofungi diversity. It is hoped that the checklist created in this work can form the basis of future studies of local biodiversity and be a useful tool for planning awareness-raising activities focusing on the kingdom Fungi, its importance and need for protection.
