Saúde e burnout em profissionais da magistratura judicial portuguesa: A influência de variáveis sociodemográficas e de trabalho

Abstract

Introdução: Estudos recentes demonstram que a vivência do stresse na magistratura judicial é um fenómeno com impacto ao nível da saúde dos/as trabalhadores/as, mas também ao nível da performance e da capacidade no cumprimento das funções. Objetivo: O presente estudo tem como objetivo avaliar indicadores de saúde e burnout de juízes/as portugueses/as em função de variáveis sociodemográficas (idade e sexo) e de variáveis relacionadas com as condições de trabalho (anos de serviço, deslocação da família e satisfação com o lugar de colocação). Método: Uma amostra de 415 magistrados/as judiciais portugueses/as, preencheram um protocolo de investigação online, com vista a recolher: (i) dados sociodemográficos e informações sobre as condições de trabalho; (ii) indicadores de saúde do Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire (COPSOQ), nomeadamente Saúde Geral, Problemas em Dormir e Stresse; e (iii) burnout através do Oldenburg Burnout Inventory (OLBI), nas dimensões Distanciamento, Exaustão e score global de burnout. Resultados: De um modo geral, os resultados indicam que a satisfação com o lugar de colocação é um fator que está associado, e tem grande impacto, na saúde da magistratura judicial, funcionando como um bom preditor de burnout. Conclusões: Dessa forma, conclui-se que a satisfação com o lugar de colocação, estando intrinsecamente ligada à gestão dos movimentos judiciais, reporta uma necessidade de perspetivar as normas e os moldes nos quais se realizam os concursos públicos, com o objetivo de criar um sistema de nomeações mais justo e que cause menos prejuízo na vida dos/as profissionais da magistratura judicial.

Introduction: Recent studies show that the experience of stress in the judiciary is a phenomenon with an impact on the health of workers, but also on the level of performance and ability to fulfill their duties. Objective: This study aims to evaluate health and burnout indicators of Portuguese judges according to sociodemographic variables (age and gender) and variables related to working conditions (years of service, family travel and satisfaction with the place of placement). Method: A sample of 415 Portuguese judges, with an average age of 47.5 years, completed an online research protocol, with a view to collecting: (i) sociodemographic data and information on working conditions; (ii) health indicators from the Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire (COPSOQ), namely General Health, Sleeping Problems and Stress; and (iii) burnout through the Oldenburg Burnout Inventory (OLBI), in the dimensions Distance, Exhaustion and global score. Results: In general, the results indicate that satisfaction with the placement is a factor that is associated with, and has a great impact on, the health of the judiciary, working as a good predictor of burnout. Conclusions: In this way, it is concluded that satisfaction with the place of placement, being intrinsically linked to the management of judicial movements, reports a need to put into perspective the norms and ways in which public tenders are carried out, with the aim of creating a fairer appointment system that causes less damage to the life of the judiciary.
