Representações Sociais: um estudo qualitativo sobre o impacto da pandemia de Covid-19 na representação social do casal em Portugal

Abstract

A evolução e transformação das relações conjugais têm sido alvo de várias investigações ao longo dos tempos, devido à sua complexidade e singularidade. A literatura existente sobre a pandemia de Covid-19 mostra que as dinâmicas conjugais sofreram diversas mudanças originadas pelos desafios que a pandemia impôs. Pelo facto de a pandemia se ter constituído como um evento novo e desconhecido que alterou as rotinas da população a nível mundial, e como as relações amorosas são parte integrante do desenvolvimento e comportamento humano, é relevante na área da Psicologia perceber qual impacto da pandemia na representação social do casal. Neste estudo foi utilizada a Abordagem Estrutural de Abric (2001a, 2001b, 2003) como base para a nossa investigação, com vista a descobrir o núcleo central das representações social do casal nos períodos pré, durante e pós-pandemia em Portugal. Objetivos: perceber o impacto da Pandemia na representação social do casal, analisando a sua (in)variância nos períodos pré-, durante e pós-pandemia e em função da variável demográfica sexo. Participantes: 2431 participantes, entre os quais 1642 mulheres (67.55%) e 761 homens (31.31%), que responderam a um questionário de associação livre de palavras com os termos indutores “casal pré-pandemia”, “casal em período de pandemia”, e “casal pós-pandemia”, entre Janeiro e Março de 2023.Resultados: o núcleo central da representação social do casal em pré pandemia organizou-se em torno dos termos “afastamento”, “amor”, “liberdade”, “normalidade” e “união”. No momento de pandemia o núcleo central apresentou-se constituído pelos termos “afastamento”, “demasiado tempo juntos”, “discussão”, “distância”, “isolamento”, “prisão”, “proximidade”, “saturação”, “stress”, “tempo” e “união”. Por fim, no momento pós pandemia foram encontrados os termos “alívio”, “divórcio”, “liberdade” e “normalidade”. A análise do núcleo central da representação social do casal entre respondentes homens e mulheres apontou para alguma invariância.Conclusão: o núcleo central da representação social do casal em período pandemia, foi o que mais se distinguiu entre os restantes, denotando o impacto deste período no casal e sua representação. No entanto, na análise das periferias foi possível verificar a presença de elementos que apontam serem de grande relevância na representação social do casal tais como o “amor”, a “amizade” e o “carinho”.

The evolution and transformation of marital relations have been the subject of several considerations over time, due to their complexity and uniqueness. The existing literature on the Covid-19 pandemic shows that the dynamics of the couple underwent several changes caused by the challenges imposed by the pandemic. Due to the fact that THE pandemic has become a new, unknown event that has altered the routines of the population worldwide, and since love relationships are an integral part of human development and behavior, it is relevant in the field of Psychology to understand the impact of the pandemic on social representation of the couple. In this study, Abric's Structural Approach (2001a, 2001b, 2003) was used as a basis for our investigation, in order to discover the central nucleus of the couple's social representations in the pre, during and post-pandemic periods in Portugal. Objectives: to understand the impact of the Pandemic on the social representation of the couple, analyzing its (in)variance in the pre-, during and post-pandemic periods and in terms of the gender demographic variable. Participants: 2431 participants, 1642 women (67.55%) and 761 men (31.31%), who answered a free word association questionnaire with the inducing terms "pre-pandemic couple", "couple in a period of pandemic", and "post-pandemic home", between January and March 2023. Results: the core of the social representation of the couple in the pre-pandemic period was organized around the terms “distance”, “love”, “freedom”, “normality” and “union”. At the time of the pandemic, the central nucleus was constituted by the terms "distance", "too much time together", "discussion", "distance", "isolation", "prison", "proximity", "saturation", "stress”, "time" and "union". Finally, in the post-pandemic period the terms “relief”, “divorce”, “freedom” and “normality” found. The analysis of the central core of the social representation of couple among male and female respondents pointed to some invariance. Conclusion: the central nucleus of the social representation of the couple in a pandemic period was the one that stood out the most among the rest, denoting the impact of this period on the couple and their representation. However, in the analysis of the peripheries, it was possible to verify the presence of elements that seem to be of great relevance in the social representation of couple, such as "love", "friendship" and "affection".
