dc.description.abstract | This work aims to analyze the viability of producing T-joints, in aluminum alloys 7057 and magnesium AZ31, by Friction Stir Welding. More precisely, in T-lap joints for heterogeneous aluminum and magnesium welds and T-butt joints for homogeneous magnesium welds. Two tools were used, a progressive conical threaded T-lap (PCRT-lap) and another progressive conical threaded T-butt, paying special attention to the formation of the concordance fillets without the reduction of the skin thickness. it was possible to produce products sold by FSW in T joint, in magnesium alloy AZ31, without trial. However, however, they were sold and there were no differences from the stringer and there was no work on the manufacture of skins sold with heterogeneous union. An analysis was made through optical and electronic microscopy and EDS analysis, to study the material flow and the existence of defects. The tensile behavior of the specimens extracted from the welds was also analyzed. In the heterogeneous welds of aluminum and magnesium, there was no welding of the skin and stringer, producing welds with defects on the surface and in the cross-section of the weld. Meanwhile, in the homogeneous magnesium welds, welds were produced without any type of defect. It was observed that in the heterogeneous welds there was a loss of hardness in relation to the base material, while in the homogeneous welds there was an increase in hardness compared to the base material. In the tensile tests of the homogeneous welds, a joint efficiency of approximately 79% was verified, a value that decreases with the decrease of the advance speed. | eng |
