CIDADE (IN)FORMAL A TRÍADE ESPACIAL DE LEFEBVRE NA ANÁLISE DA INFORMALIDADE NO BAIRRO COVA DA MOURA

Abstract

Esta dissertação aborda o estudo da cidade informal através da análise tripartida do espaço proposta por Henri Lefebvre. O interesse no estudo do espaço urbano e a relação que este tem com o ser humano, foi um dos principais motivos que justificaram a escolha deste tema. Com a pesquisa feita em torno deste interesse inicial, foi possível elaborar e estruturar o desenvolvimento e apresentação de vários conceitos relativos à cidade informal. Como ponto de partida tomei a área metropolitana de Lisboa. Feita uma breve contextualização histórica e cronológica de acontecimentos que levaram à expansão informal da malha urbana para bairros periféricos durante o século XX, parti para uma aproximação sucessiva ao bairro Cova da Moura que foi analisado através da teoria tripartida proposta pelo filósofo Henri Lefebvre para a compreensão do ambiente construído e vivido.À semelhança de outros bairros da área metropolitana de Lisboa a malha urbana informal da Cova da Moura reflete, na falta de desenho urbano formal, um conjunto de outras carências, nomeadamente económicas, que coexistem a par de uma forte identidade cultural local que também encontra expressão no espaço do bairro. Recorrendo a alguns estudos até agora feitos no campo da história e da morfologia urbana, mas dando principal destaque ao trabalho teórico de Henri Lefebvre, foquei-me na análise tripartida do espaço, aplicando-a ao caso de estudo do bairro Cova da Moura. Com este intuito, utilizo os conceitos de informal e de identidade para compreender como o espaço urbano se caracteriza, designadamente quanto à sua (in)formalidade.O desenvolvimento conseguido, ajuda a compreender como, de forma empírica, podemos analisar o espaço urbano enquanto arquitetos e a forma como isso pode resultar numa arquitetura com princípios, utilizando a tríade de Henry Lefebvre como ferramenta de análise do espaço, nas suas diversas dimensões materiais e imateriais.

This dissertation addresses the study of the informal city through the tripartite analysis of space proposed by Henri Lefebvre. The interest in the study of urban space and the relationship it has with human being was one of the main reasons that justified the choice of this theme. With the research carried out around this initial interest, it was possible to elaborate and structure the development and presentation of several concepts related to the informal city. As a starting point I took the metropolitan area of Lisbon. After a brief historical and chronological contextualization of events that led to the informal expansion of the urban mesh to peripheral neighborhoods during the 20th century, I started with a successive approach to the Cova da Moura neighborhood that was analyzed through the tripartite theory proposed by the philosopher Henri Lefebvre for the understanding of built and lived environment.Like other neighborhoods in the Lisbon metropolitan area, the informal urban fabric of Cova da Moura reflects, in the absence of formal urban design, a set of other needs, namely economic ones, which coexist alongside a strong local cultural identity that also finds expression in the neighborhood space. Resorting to some studies carried out so far in the field of history and urban morphology, but with emphasis on the theoretical work of Henri Lefebvre, I focused on the tripartite analysis of space, applying it to the case study of the Cova da Moura neighborhood. For this purpose, I use the concepts of informal and identity to understand how urban space is characterized, namely in terms of its (in)formality.The development achieved helps to understand how, empirically, we can analyze urban space as architects and how this can result in an architecture with principles, using Henry Lefebvre's triad as a tool for analyzing space, in its various material dimensions. and immaterial.
