A Polarização Política nas Elites Portuguesas: uma análise crítica de discursos online

Abstract

Ao atentarmos num mundo cada vez mais globalizado surgem-nos novos atores edesafios no âmbito das relações internacionais. As redes sociais desempenham aqui um papelfulcral em sociedades e democracias mais globalizadas em ligação com as elites políticas queinteragem através delas. Este estudo exploratório pretende esboçar um quadro sobre osprincipais discursos e temas polarizados pelas elites políticas em Portugal no Twitter.Em primeiro lugar, pretende-se aplicar a análise de discursos crítica com o suporte deuma análise temática para compreender os principais temas polarizados destas elites políticas,e também as divergências e expressões que suportam os discursos políticos polarizados daselites. Este estudo está balizado entre 2018- 2021 tendo como ponto de viragem a entrada deum partido de extrema-direita no sistema político português. A utilização do Twitter possibilitauma potencial fonte de informação para compreender os discursos políticos polarizados daselites no contexto português.Os resultados apontam para a predominância de discursos polarizados ideológicossendo atores de difusão as elites políticas, nomeadamente líderes de partidos políticos comassento parlamentar. Em segundo plano, destacar que também se verificou divergênciaspolítico-ideológicas presentes nos discursos polarizados com temas de maior expressão comopolítica, sociedade e governação. Este estudo constitui um processo exploratório para conhecera realidade da polarização política das elites em Portugal através das redes sociais, em concreto o Twitter.

When we look at an increasingly globalized world, new actors and challenges arise inthe context of international relations. Social networks play a central role here in a moreglobalized society and democracies in agreement with the political elites that interact throughthem. Our exploratory study aims to sketch a picture of the main discourses and themespolarized by political elites in Portugal on Twitter.First, apply critical discourse analysis with the support of thematic analysis tounderstand the main polarized themes of these political elites, as well as the divergences andexpressions that support the polarized political discourses of the elites. Our study is based on2018-2021, having as a turning point the entry of a far-right party into the Portuguese politicalsystem. The use of Twitter provides a potential source of information to understand thepolarized political discourses of elites in the Portuguese context.The results point to the predominance of polarized ideological discourses, with theactors of diffusion being the political elites, namely party leaders. This work also aims to contribute to the study of poalrization and its relationship with polyic elites in online contexts. Thus, using a linguistic focus to analyze the discourses made by the elites.Regarding the other topicsof analysis, there were political-ideological divergences present in the polarized discourses withthemes of greater expression such as politics, society and governance. This study constitutes anexploratory process to know the reality of the political polarization of the elites in Portugalthrough social networks, specifically Twitter.
