Os Mitos Clássicos no Ensino de Português e Latim

Abstract

RESUMO Os mitos clássicos no ensino de Português e LatimCom este trabalho procurei relevar a importância dos mitos clássicos gregos e romanos no Ensino do Português no 3º Ciclo do Ensino Básico e no Ensino Secundário e do Latim no Ensino Secundário. Os documentos programáticos destas duas disciplinas apresentam orientações para que seja valorizado o conhecimento linguístico e literário, considerando para isso, entre outros aspetos, o estudo da cultura, história e filosofia do povo grego e romano.A primeira parte conta com uma reflexão sobre o meu percurso profissional, iniciado no ano letivo 1990/91, com o estágio pedagógico supervisionado na Escola Quinta das Flores, em Coimbra, vindo até hoje em que exerço a minha função docente na Escola Profissional Infante D. Henrique, no Porto.Os mitos clássicos fascinaram-me durante a minha formação académica na Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra, não só pelo fascinante assunto em si, mas também pela forma como os professores da época falavam deles nas suas aulas, bem como nas conversas ocasionais em contexto informal. As minhas próprias aulas permitiram-me esclarecer os meus alunos sobre a sua influência em alguns autores portugueses.Neste trabalho, as sequências didáticas de Latim e Português, com fundamentação teórica substanciada na prática docente, visam a valorização dos mitos gregos e romanos no ensino do Latim e do Português. Neste sentido, no que diz respeito à aula de Português, a análise está centrada na poesia de Miguel Torga, em particular no mito de Orfeu; na disciplina de Latim, a sequência didática incide no mito de Ulisses.

Classical myths in the teaching of Portuguese and LatinTaking this work into account, I’ve tried to analyse the importance of classical Greek and Roman myths in the teaching of Portuguese in the 3rd Cycle of Basic Education and in Secondary Studies and Latin in Secondary Studies. My study was based in the documents available to teachers and students, namely in the Student Profile at Leaving Secondary Education.The syllabus documents of these two subjects allow students to value their knowledge of classical texts and the culture, history and philosophy of the Greek and Roman people.In the first part of this work, I’ve reflected on my professional career, which began in the academic year of 1990/91, with an internship at Escola Quinta das Flores, in Coimbra. It has continued to this day, as a teacher, at Escola Profissional Infante D. Henrique in Oporto.The classical myths fascinated me during my academic training at the School of Arts of Coimbra University, not only because of the fascinating subject itself, but also the way in which professors at the time spoke about them in class, as well as in occasional conversations in an informal context. My own classes have allowed me to enlighten my students about their influence on some Portuguese authors.In this work I present didactic sequences of Latin and Portuguese lessons, with theoretical foundations substantiated in the teaching practice, aiming at the valorization of Greek and Roman myths in the teaching of Latin and Portuguese: with regard to the Portuguese subject, the analysis is centred on the poetry of Miguel Torga, particularly in the myth of Orpheus; in the Latin subject, the didactic sequence will be on the myth of Ulysses.
