A História e o Património Cultural Local como estratégia no ensino-aprendizagem da História

Abstract

O presente estudo é produto do Estágio desenvolvido no âmbito do Mestrado em Ensino de História no 3.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico e Ensino Secundário. É composto, numa primeira parte, pela descrição e reflexão sobre as atividades desenvolvidas durante a Prática de Ensino Supervisionada e, numa segunda parte, pela apresentação da investigação sobre a utilização didática da História e Património Cultural Local em duas turmas do 7º e 9º ano, respetivamente. Tomou-se como ponto de partida que o surgimento de uma “Nova História Local” e das novas abordagens ao património local daí decorrentes, abriram novas possibilidades de trabalhar esta temática ao nível da didática da História, permitindo trazer para a sala de aula as novas fontes, metodologias e temáticas usadas por esta área da historiografia e uma visão mais complexa da História. A questão que orientou a investigação pretendia compreender como a História e Património Cultural Local poderiam contribuir para melhorar a capacidade de os alunos se apropriarem do conhecimento histórico de caráter nacional e internacional. Procurou-se utilizar diversas atividades e metodologias que facilitassem a consolidação de conhecimentos históricos, mas também que desenvolvessem diversas capacidades e competências nos estudantes. Desta forma, o estudo realizado desdobrou-se num outro objetivo que era analisar qual a melhor estratégia para abordar a História e Património Cultural Local no âmbito da disciplina. Os resultados dos estudos de caso que aqui se apresentam indicam que a História e Património Cultural Local podem contribuir para a apropriação de conhecimentos de caráter nacional e internacional e que tendem a apresentar maiores potencialidades quando combinadas com diferentes estratégias didáticas. Reconhecendo as potencialidades desta temática no ensino da História, procura-se ainda apontar algumas pistas para superar as limitações reais à sua aplicação no âmbito da prática docente.

The present study is the product of the Teacher Training Internship component of the Master's degree in Teaching History (7-12). It is divided into two parts. The first part offers a description of and reflection on the activities developed during the Supervised Teaching Practice Year. The second part presents the research carried out on the didactic use of Local History and Cultural Heritage in two classes of the 7th and 9th grades, respectively.The study builds on the assumption that the emergence of a "New Local History" and resulting new approaches to local heritage have opened up new avenues for exploring this topic in History classes, allowing one to bring in the new sources, methodologies, and themes used by this subfield of historiography, as well as a more complex vision of History.The research question that guided the study was the following: how can Local History and Cultural Heritage contribute to improve students' ability to take ownership of national and international historical knowledge? An attempt was made to use different activities and methodologies in order to facilitate the consolidation of historical knowledge, as well as to foster the development of different abilities and competences. Another goal of the present study is to analyze what the best strategy is to approach Local History and Cultural Heritage within the scope of the discipline.The results of the case studies presented in the study indicates that Local History and Cultural Heritage can contribute to help students take ownership of national and international historical knowledge and tends to have greater potential when combined with different didactic strategies. Recognizing the potential of this theme in History teaching, the study also seeks to suggest ways of overcoming the very real limitations to its implementation during the Teaching Practice Year.
