Discriminação Linguística Na Procura Por Arrendamentos Para Habitação Familiar Na Cidade De Coimbra

Abstract

A presente investigação descreve experimento realizado para detectar eventuais comportamentos discriminatórios na procura de arrendamento unifamiliar na cidade de Coimbra, com base no critério do sotaque de quem busca por imóveis para arrendar. A partir de filtros de procura de anúncios de arrendamento de apartamentos T2 e T3 na cidade de Coimbra foram verificados 57 anúncios de 40 anunciantes diferentes. Desses anúncios, foram selecionados 7 anúncios de 7 anunciantes diferentes. Esses anúncios foram contactados por duas voluntárias, sendo uma falante do sotaque português (V1) e a outra falante do sotaque brasileiro (V2). Os contactos ocorreram apenas por telefone. Dessa forma, foram isolados os fatores de idade, gênero e etnia, salientando apenas o fator linguístico, representado pelas diferenças entre o sotaque. A partir dos dados coletados, observou-se que os resultados sugerem que houve tratamento tendencialmente discriminatório em três dos sete anúncios contactados (Anúncios 2, 3 e 5). Em dois anúncios não houve observação de qualquer elemento que sugira discriminação (Anúncios 4 e 6). E em outros dois não foi possível fazer a comparação porque os imóveis não estavam mais disponíveis quando a V2 efetuou a chamada (Anúncios 1 e 6). Trata-se de análise exclusivamente qualitativa, dentro do universo de anunciantes na cidade de Coimbra, entre os dias 05/07/2022 e 06/07/2022. Logo, não é possível extrapolar as conclusões para outros contextos. No entanto, os resultados sugerem a oportunidade de reproduzir a experiência em outros locais no território português, bem como ampliar o escopo para questões de idade e gênero dos imigrantes.

The present research describes an experiment carried out to search for single-family lease offers in the city of Coimbra, based on the search criteria of those looking for properties to rent. From search filters for T2 and T3 apartment rental ads in the city of Coimbra, 57 ads from 40 different advertisers were selected. From these ads, 7 different ads from 7 advertisers were selected. This is an exclusively qualitative analysis within the universe of advertisers in the city of Coimbra between July 5, 2022 and July 6, 2022. Therefore, it is not possible to extrapolate the conclusions to other contexts. However, the results suggest the opportunity to reproduce the experience in other places in the Portuguese territory, as well as to broaden the scope for factors of age and gender of immigrants.
