Ensino da Geografia: quando uma imagem vale mais do que mil palavras

Abstract

O exercício da prática letiva está dependente de dois aspetos: o ensino e a aprendizagem. Embora o papel do ensino seja atribuído ao(à) professor(a) e o da aprendizagem ao(à) aluno(a), eles são interdependestes. O sucesso na aprendizagem por parte do(a) aluno(a), também está relacionado com a forma como o(a) professor(a) transmite a mensagem aos(às) seus(suas) alunos(as). Neste campo, existem múltiplos recurso e estratégias didáticas, a que o docente tem que recorrer, de modo a cativar a atenção dos estudantes, mas acima de tudo, conseguir que alcancem as aprendizagens essenciais. Sendo o objetivo da Geografia estudar o(s) território(s) e a sua função localizar, descrever e explicar fenómenos físicos e/ou humanos, a observação é o ponto de partida e uma das etapas da metodologia desta ciência.Mas nem todos os modelos pedagógico-didáticos, nem os níveis de ensino-aprendizagem, permitem uma observação direta dos lugares e dos diversos fenómenos. A observação indireta, por meio de imagens, sejam elas fixas ou em movimento, apresenta-se como uma estratégia bastante útil na sala de aula de Geografia. Este trabalho surge com base nessa dialética e que tem como objetivo refletir sobre a utilização da fotografia, enquanto estratégia didática, aplicada em contexto de prática pedagógica supervisionada, no âmbito do Mestrado em Ensino da Geografia no 3º Ciclo do Ensino Básico e no Ensino Secundário, que decorreu na Escola Secundária com 3º Ciclo Drª. Maria Cândida, no Agrupamento de Escolas de Mira, no ano letivo 2021/2022.

The exercise of teaching practice depends on two aspects: teaching and learning. Although they are interdependent, the role of teaching is assigned to the teacher, while that of learning is attributed to the student. Success in student learning is related to the way teacher conveys the message to his students. To do so, there are multiple resources and didactic strategies, which the teacher must resort to, in order to captivate students' attention, but mostly to ensure that they achieve essential learning.As the objective of geography is to study the earth's surface and its function is to locate, describe and explain physical and/or human phenomena, observation is the starting point and one of the steps in the methodology of this science. However, not all the pedagogical-didactic models, nor the levels of teaching-learning, allow a direct observation of places and different phenomena. In fact, the indirect observation through images, whether still (e.g., photography, drawing, painting) or moving (e.g., video), constitutes a very useful strategy in the geography classroom.This work emerged based on this dialectic and aims to reflect on the use of photography, as a didactic strategy applied in the context of supervised pedagogical practice. It is inserted within the scope of the master's degree in geography teaching for the 3rd cycle of basic education and secondary education, which took place at Escola Secundária c/3º Ciclo Drª. Maria Cândida, in the Agrupamento de Escolas de Mira, in the academic year 2021/2022.
