Abstract

Resumo do trabalho:Título dado ao trabalho de projeto: A multiculturalidade em Driss Chraïbi – Tradução comentada de L’inspecteur Ali.Este trabalho de projeto é um ensaio de tradução da língua francesa para a portuguesa de alguns excertos da obra L’inspecteur Ali, de Driss Chraïbi.O presente trabalho de projeto divide-se em três partes fundamentais. A primeira parte aborda questões e reflexões teóricas sobre os aspetos relevantes para a compreensão e tradução desta obra, como a literatura, a cultura e a tradução, com enfoque nos contributos de Schleiermacher e a sua perspetiva de tradução estrangeirizante.Na segunda parte é analisado o percurso literário do autor, a sua vida e os aspetos fundamentais sobre a obra aqui estudada. São abordados os temas comuns às obras de Chraïbi, o estilo de escrita do autor e o género literário da presente obra.É, depois, apresentada uma proposta de tradução dos excertos escolhidos, com base na modalidade de tradução explicitada acima, cujo objetivo é valorizar os elementos estranhos à cultura portuguesa.Numa terceira parte deste projeto é feita uma análise da tradução apresentada, em forma de comentários aos desafios da tradução. São comentadas e justificadas as nossas escolhas de tradução, que espelham a escolha inicial do respeito da cultura de partida. Abstract of the present work:Chosen title for this translation project: Multiculturalism in Driss Chraïbi – Translation of L’inspecteur Ali with commentary.The following work offers a translation from French to Portuguese of some excerpts from the book L'inspecteur Ali, by Driss Chraïbi.This project is divided into three fundamental parts. The first part addresses theoretical issues and reflections on aspects relevant to the understanding and translation of this book, such as literature, culture, and translation, focusing on Schleiermacher's contributions and his perspective on foreignizing translation.The second part is focused on an analysis of the author's literary career, his life, and the fundamental aspects of the book studied here. The common themes in Chraïbi's works, the author's writing style, and the literary genre of this book are discussed.A translation of the chosen excerpts is then presented, based on the translation modality explained above, whose goal is to enhance the elements that are foreign to the Portuguese culture.In the third part of this project, an analysis of the presented translation is provided in the form of comments on the challenges found during the translation process. Our translation choices, which mirror the initial option of respecting the source culture, are commented on and justified.
