This report is the result of an internship carried out at the entity My Business – Consultores, Lda for the completion of the Masters in Accounting and Finance at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra.Performing a professional activity on your own is something that involves many risks and cannot always run perfectly if the entrepreneur is not properly informed about all his risks. The choice of how to start a professional activity is something extremely important, it is on this basis that the whole business starts. With the choice of the legal form that best suits each activity we can solve from the outset any problems we would have in the future. At this pivotal point of activity this is the most important issue and requires a lot of attention. The Portuguese national market is mostly composed of companies and sole trader business. In companies there are several legal forms, the most used being private limited companies and public limited companies. Companies grant their partners a limited liability for any future debts arising from the activity.Sole trader business constitutes about 68% of the business fabric in Portugal and stand out for the ease of opening and ceasing activity. However, it also has its drawbacks. In this context, this work intends to present the host organization and the tasks carried out during the internship, and present two of the legal forms most used by individuals who intend to start, on their own, an activity on their own. .eng
