Biography
Filipa Araújo (PhD Comparative literature, 2014) coordinates the research group "Camões, mute poetry and emblematics"” (https://www.uc.pt/iii/ciec/Camoesemblems) at the Interuniversitary Centre for Camonian Studies (University of Coimbra). She carried out the post-doctoral project "Mute signs and speaking images: the reception of logo-iconic language in Portuguese Baroque culture" (SFRH/BPD/107747/2015), financed by FCT - National Foundation for Science and Technology. It engaged three host institutions: the Stirling Maxwell Centre for Text/Image Studies (University of Glasgow), the Centre for Baroque Studies (University of Rio Grande do Norte), and the Interuniversity Centre for Camonian Studies (University of Coimbra). This project aimed to further stimulate research on the reception of emblematic models in Portuguese Baroque literary works, by drawing connections with other artistic manifestations, in order to analyze the Lusitanian logo-iconic production in a European context. Her research interests focus on Portuguese Baroque culture, comparative literature and text/image relations, with specific emphasis on emblem studies. She has published in peer-reviewed journals, such as Lusitania Sacra (2021), IKON (2020), Imago. Revista de Emblemática y cultura visual (2020), Janus. Estudios sobre el Siglo de Oro 8 (2019), Glasgow Emblem Studies (2017), ContraCorrente: Revista de Estudos Literários e da Cultura (2016), Revista Portuguesa de História (2015), Veredas- Revista da Associação Internacional de Lusitanistas (2013), História Revista (2013), Revista Filosófica de Coimbra (2009). She published chapters of books in Spain, Netherlands, Brazil and Portugal. She presented her work in Austria, Brazil, France, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Spain and UK. She participated and contributed to the organization of several international congresses and meetings. She is a member of the Organizing Committee and Scientific Committee of the 12th International Conference of the Society for Emblem Studies (Coimbra, 2022). She is a member of the Society for Emblem Studies and elected member of the Scientific Board of the Sociedad Española de Emblemática (since 2017). She was awarded national representative of Languages and Literatures in the Young Scientists Seminar of the Science Academy of Lisbon (2017-2020). She was elected Secretary/Treasury of the AIL-Associação Internacional de Lusitanistas (2021-2024).
