Biography
João António da Silva Barata is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Beira Interior and Researcher at the Laboratory of Instrumentation and Experimental Particle Physics (LIP). He has a PhD degree in Physics (2006) and a Degree in Physics (1993), both from the University of Beira Interior, Portugal. He has published 13 articles in specialized international journals (IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, Journal of Instrumentation, Nuclear Instruments and Methods A and Radiation Physics and Chemistry) and 13 articles in conference proceedings, all indexed in Scopus or in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoScc). He co-supervised 1 master's thesis. He participates and/or participated as an Investigator in 7 project(s) and Principal Investigator in 1 project(s). He has accumulated more than 30 years of teaching in Physics and Instrumentation. His scientific domains and main interests are Applied Physics and Instrumentation with an emphasis on the physics of radiation detectors and development of new techniques in gaseous detectors for particle and nuclear physics.
